Structural proteins of Chikungunya virus
Journal of Virology, 1984Polyacrylamide gel analysis of the structural proteins of African and Asian strains of Chikungunya virus, an alphavirus, showed that both strains contain three structural proteins: glycosylated E1 and E2, embedded in the viral envelope, and a nonglycosylated nucleocapsid protein.

Chikungunya Virus Pathogenesis and Immunity
Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, 2015Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arbovirus associated with acute and chronic arthralgia that re-emerged in the Indian Ocean islands in 2005-2006 and is currently responsible for the ongoing outbreaks in the Caribbean islands and the Americas. We describe here the acute and chronic clinical manifestations of CHIKV in patients that define the disease.

Chikungunya Virus Pathogenesis
2016Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a re-emerging mosquito-transmitted alphavirus. Following inoculation into the skin, CHIKV replicates locally and ultimately produces a high titer viremia that facilitates a human–mosquito–human transmission cycle. Symptoms and signs of CHIKV infection include high fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, and rash.

Chikungunya: a re-emerging virus
The Lancet, 2012In the past decade, chikungunya--a virus transmitted by Aedes spp mosquitoes--has re-emerged in Africa, southern and southeastern Asia, and the Indian Ocean Islands as the cause of large outbreaks of human disease. The disease is characterised by fever, headache, myalgia, rash, and both acute and persistent arthralgia.

Molecular Virology of Chikungunya Virus
2018Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) was discovered more than six decades ago, but has remained poorly investigated. However, after a recent outbreak of CHIK fever in both hemispheres and viral adaptation to new species of mosquitoes, it has attracted a lot of attention.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), a member of the Alphavirus genus, represents a real public health problem in tropical regions of the Southeast Asia and Africa. It is transmitted to the man by Aedes mosquitoes and the illness, known as Chikungunya, is characterized by fever, eruptions and invalidating arthralgia.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) belongs to the “old world” Alphavirus family and is an arbovirus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. It is a tropical disease originally described in central/east Africa in the 1950s, but the recent re-emergence from 2004 in Africa and rapid spread in and around the Indian Ocean (Reunion island, India, Malaysia) as well as Europe

Chikungunya and Zika Virus Vaccines
2018The spread of chikungunya and Zika viruses can be controlled by vaccination of human populations. Classical inactivated virus formulations and live attenuated viruses have demonstrated different rates of success. The molecular toolbox is now advanced enough to explore the potential of novel vaccine modalities that are in different stages of development

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne alphavirus which causes epidemic fever, rash and polyarthralgia in Africa and Asia. Two outbreaks have been reported in Malaysia, in Klang, Selangor (1998) and Bagan Panchor, Perak (2006). It is not known if the outbreaks were caused by the recent introduction of CHIKV, or if the virus was already ...
