Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arthropod-borne, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to genus Alphavirus and family Togaviridae. The clinical manifestations developed upon CHIKV-infection include fever, myositis, arthralgia and maculopapular rash. Thus, the re-emergence of CHIKV has posed serious health threats worldwide.

Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) is a viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes, caused by the chikungunya virus (CHIKV), which has led to millions of infections globally. Antibodies against CHIKV serve as essential tools for research on this virus. In this study, we designed peptides corresponding to the E1, E2, E3, and capsid proteins of CHIKV to immunize New

Antiviral Research, 2014
The global emergence of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection is alarming and currently there is no licensed vaccine or antiviral treatment available to mitigate this disease. CHIKV infection typically results in high viral load with an outcome of high fever, skin rashes, muscle pain, and sequelae of prolonged arthritis, which occurs in >90% of the ...

Seroprevalence of Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) Infection on Lamu Island, Kenya, October 2004
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 2008An outbreak of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) disease associated with high fever and severe protracted arthralgias was detected in Lamu, Kenya, peaking in July 2004. At least 1,300 cases were documented. We conducted a seroprevalence study to define the magnitude of transmission on Lamu Island. We conducted a systematic cross-sectional survey.

Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV): Coming to America
Biosafety, 2014Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) is an arbovirus of the alphavirus genus (Togaviridae family) transmitted by the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes. The word, Chikungunya, translates to “that which bends up”, based on the stooped position of patients during the rheumatic symptoms of the disease.

Nanotechnology: A promising approach of antiviral treatments against chikungunya virus (CHIKV)
Journal of Scientific and Innovative Research, 2018Following its emergence in Africa, spread to the Indian Ocean islands in 2006, and occurrences in regions of the world where it hadn’t been reported in the past, Chikungunya has become an emerging public health concern in many countries. The past outbreaks of the chikungunya virus (CHIKV) have caused widespread morbidity and mortality.
