High‐Performance Electrocatalysts of Potassium Lactate Oxidation for Hydrogen and Solid Potassium Acetate Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Potassium lactate, produced from polylactic acid plastic waste, is oxidized to potassium acetate on an anode using Ni(Co)OOH as the electrocatalyst, while hydrogen is simultaneously generated at the cathode, through a highly efficient industrial‐scale electrolysis system.

Child labor and household wealth: Theory and empirical evidence of an inverted-U [PDF]

open access: yes
Some studies on child labor have shown that greater land wealth leads to higher child labor, thereby casting doubt on the hypothesis that child labor is caused by poverty. This paper argues that the missing ingredient is an explicit modeling of the labor

Efficient Non‐Invasive Rejuvenation of Spent Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries Through Controlled Overdischarge

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This strategy rejuvenates spent lithium iron phosphate battery by non‐invasively targeting Li+ trapped within the solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI). This method mitigates copper dissolution and reduces Li/Fe antisite defects, achieving 9.56% capacity recovery and 214 cycles lifespan extension. The process requires only 3 MJ kg−1 of energy and emitting
