Kaempferol Attenuates Spaceflight‐Associated Knee Cartilage Degradation by Targeting NOX4‐Mediated Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We have shown that both simulated and actual spaceflight contribute to cartilage degradation in the knees of mice. Using RNA sequencing and bioenergetic profiling, we identified NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) as a key factor driving these changes. Additionally, we found that kaempferol, a naturally occurring flavonoid that binds directly to NOX4, reduces ...

A Comprehensive Microbial Gene Catalog of the Human Airway Microbiome Across Anatomical Sites and Geographic Regions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated Human Airway Microbiome Gene Catalog (iHAMGC) is constructed from 12,273 metagenomic airway samples, providing a high‐resolution reference of respiratory microbial genes. The catalog enables systematic exploration of taxonomic and functional variation across airway niches and geographic regions, revealing site‐specific and region ...

ABC for Father and Mother and Me. Representations of children as consumers in the picturebook of the interwar period

open access: yesProblemy Wczesnej Edukacji, 2016
This article examines how the child consumer is represented in a selection of branded picturebooks at the beginning of the 20th century. By analyzing children’s books published by a commercial chain of stores, the Cooperation Union, the article discusses

Polydopamine Nanoparticle‐Mediated Precise Near‐Infrared Optical Stimulation for Cognitive Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine nanoparticles enable a precise, non‐genetic, and transcranial neuromodulation strategy via near‐infrared photothermal stimulation. By activating TRPV1 channels, this approach specifically enhances hippocampal gamma oscillations, thereby rescuing spatial memory deficits in models of perioperative neurocognitive disorder.

Serve sizes and frequency of food consumption in Australian children aged 14 and 24 months

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Public Health, 2017
Objective: To describe the dietary intake of a sample of Australian children. Methods: Three days (1×24 hour recall, 2×24 hour records) of dietary intake data were collected from 409 and 363 mother‐child dyads (resident in Brisbane and South Australia ...

A Glucose Metabolism‐Modulatory Nanobiohybrid Vaccine Platform Promotes Anti‐Tumor Immunity by Orchestrating Autophagy‐Dependent Cross‐Presentation and H2S‐Enhanced NLRP3 Inflammasome Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanobiohybrid vaccine was designed by constructing a hydrogen‐bonded organic framework coencapsulated with glucose oxidase (GOx) and tumor antigens. This nanobiohybrid vaccine executed a GOx‐catalyzed enzyme reaction that disrupted glucose metabolism and induced redox imbalance in dendritic cells, leading to autophagy‐dependent antigen cross ...

Hypothalamic Control of Liver Health and Disease: From Circuits to Pathophysiology and Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates the hypothalamic circuits that control liver homeostasis via autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways. Dysregulation of this hypothalamus–liver axis drives disease progression across a spectrum including steatotic liver disease, liver inflammation and injury, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Super‐Multiplexed Label‐Free Raman Imaging Uncovers Novel Testicular Metabolic Couplings for Residual Body and Spermatogonial Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Super‐multiplexed Label‐free Raman Imaging (SLRI) enables 2D/3D metabolic mapping of intact Drosophila testes. Moving beyond descriptive morphology, it establishes a multidimensional tool for tissue metabolic remodeling, and offers a generalizable platform for complex tissue analysis, with implications extending to development and disease. ABSTRACT The

Soft, Multi‐Wavelength Photoplethysmography Enables Reliable Neonatal Blood Pressure Monitoring Via Error Stratification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft hybrid multi‐wavelength PPG wearable acquires neonatal signals. Synchronized PPG and invasive ABP data are segmented into fixed windows. A 1D‐EfficientNet model predicts segment‐level SBP and DBP. Model performance is examined with retrospective subgroup analysis across acquisition conditions.

A Blood‐Derived Factor Rescues ALS: Platelet Factor 4 Activates OPTN‐Dependent Autophagy to Clear SOD1 Aggregates Independently of PINK1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Systemic platelet factor 4 (PF4) is significantly depleted in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Peripheral PF4 replenishment restores central proteostasis by driving OPTN‐dependent, PINK1‐independent selective autophagy in motor neurons. This intervention effectively clears toxic SOD1 aggregates, blunts glial activation, and preserves neuromuscular ...
