Polydopamine Nanoparticle‐Mediated Precise Near‐Infrared Optical Stimulation for Cognitive Enhancement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polydopamine nanoparticles enable a precise, non‐genetic, and transcranial neuromodulation strategy via near‐infrared photothermal stimulation. By activating TRPV1 channels, this approach specifically enhances hippocampal gamma oscillations, thereby rescuing spatial memory deficits in models of perioperative neurocognitive disorder.

Chilling tolerance in rice: Past and present

open access: yesJournal of Plant Physiology, 2022
Rice is generally sensitive to chilling stress, which seriously affects growth and yield. Since early in the last century, considerable efforts have been made to understand the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying the response to chilling stress and improve rice chilling tolerance.

Chilling tolerance of maize

Acta Agronomica Hungarica, 2002
The review will give a brief summary of the results achieved in the field of maize chilling tolerance in the Martonvasar institute in recent decades. The most important of these concern the joint effect of low temperature and light on photosynthetic processes, the role of light in the appearance of post-chilling symptoms, the importance of the ...

The Integrative Physiology of Insect Chill Tolerance

Annual Review of Physiology, 2017
Cold tolerance is important in defining the distribution of insects. Here, we review the principal physiological mechanisms underlying homeostatic failure during cold exposure in this diverse group of ectotherms. When insects are cooled sufficiently, they suffer an initial loss of neuromuscular function (chill coma) that is caused by decreased ...

Genetic Engineering of Plant Chilling Tolerance

1999
Many plants from tropical and subtropical regions show stress symptoms when grown at low, nonfreezing temperatures. These chilling-sensitive species include crop plants such as cassava, cotton, soybean, maize, rice, tomato, sugarcane and pepper. Many of these crops are grown in regions more temperate than their tropical origins.

OsMAPK3 Phosphorylates OsbHLH002/OsICE1 and Inhibits Its Ubiquitination to Activate OsTPP1 and Enhances Rice Chilling Tolerance

open access: yesDevelopmental Cell, 2017
Improvement of chilling tolerance is a major target in rice breeding. The signaling pathways regulating chilling consist of complex networks, including key transcription factors and their targets.
