Phenology-Informed Strategies for Climate-Resilient Peach Production: Shoot Growth, Leaf Fall, and Flowering of Two Low-Chill Cultivars in Humid Subtropical Central Taiwan

open access: yesAgronomy
Global warming has increasingly reduced winter chill accumulation in traditional fruit-growing regions, disrupting dormancy release and bloom synchrony in deciduous fruit crops such as peach (Prunus persica).

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Screening maize (<I>Zea mays</I> L) cultivars for chilling tolerance using chlorophyll fluorescence technique

open access: yes, 2006
In this study photoinhibition as a photosynthetic characteristic was used to evaluate tolerance to chilling in a range of Zea mays L., cultivars. When chilled at 7-8°C and 1500 μmol photons m-2 s-1 for 6 hours, the cultivars exhibited significant ...

simulation study on the effect of climate change on crop water use and chill unit accumulation

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2017
Climate change and its impact on already scarce water resources are of global importance, but even more so for water scarce countries. Apart from the effect of climate change on water supply, the chill unit requirement of deciduous fruit crops is also expected to be affected.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Accessing Chilling Conditions For Perennial Fruit Crop Production in Kentucky

open access: yes, 2015
Temperate Region fruit and nut trees, and many other perennial plants, require cool winter temperatures (chilling hours) to ensure leaf and flower bud production in the following season.

Chilling and heat requirements of almond cultivars for flowering

open access: yes, 2003
7 pages, 2 tables.Chilling and heat requirements for breaking dormancy and flowering were studied in ten almond cultivars which spanned the range of flowering times in this species. The cultivars showed a wide range of chilling requirements for flowering

The quality and the depth of dormancy of beechnuts in individual stand groups with varying climatic conditions within a single unit of approval

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2015
The goal of this study was to analyse the quality and dormancy of beechnuts originating from different harvesting sites within large UA and to determine the homogeneity of seed lots from large-scale areas.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.
