Nitroxide Mediated Polymerization of Styrene from Ladder‐Like Polysilsesquioxane: Synthesis and Characterization of Inorganic–Organic Hybrid Materials

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Volume 227, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
LPSQ‐Macroalkoxyamines are used both as fillers and as initiators of styrene nitroxide‐mediated polymerization in the preparation of hybrid materials. The effects of this silicon‐based nanostructure on the thermal and viscoelastic properties of the final hybrid materials are presented.

Toward a Green Polymerization of Lignin‐Derived Monomers in Ethyl Lactate Solution or Aqueous Emulsion

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 2, February 2026.
Starting from lignin‐derived compounds (LDCs), a library of radically polymerizable monomers are synthesized. Biobased polymers are then prepared by free radical polymerization using industrially relevant processes: in solution (ethyl lactate) and in emulsion (water). Polymers with high thermal resistance and tunable Tgs are obtained, along with stable

On‐Resin Pictet–Spengler Cyclization for 1,2,3,4‐Tetrahydro‐β‐carboline‐3‐carboxylate (Tcc) Peptide Synthesis With Acid‐Labile Functional Tolerance

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
The constrained tryptophan (Trp) analog 1,2,3,4‐tetrahydro‐β‐carboline‐3‐carboxylic acid (Tcc) is used to restrict peptide conformation in structure–activity relationship studies. Although Pictet–Spengler cyclization of Trp and aldehydes with mineral acid gives Tcc analogs, such harsh conditions do not tolerate acid‐labile functionality.

From Methane to Nanodiamond Precursors in Water: Superacid‐like Condensation Pathways Under Extreme Conditions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 3, 16 January 2026.
Under extreme pressure and temperature, superionic water acts as a strong superacid, catalyzing methane polycondensation through pentacoordinated carbonium ions (CH5+). This discovery reveals the non‐classical carbocation chemistry underlying the early stages of diamond formation in water under extreme conditions.

Synthesis of Perdeuterated Pentane and THF Under Mild Conditions by Silica‐Supported Ta/M (M = Co, Ir) Heterobimetallic Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 5, 28 January 2026.
A silica‐supported Ta/Co heterobimetallic catalyst prepared by surface organometallic chemistry shows excellent room‐temperature activity in pentane perdeuteration, outperforming Ta and Ta/Ir systems. By combining the complementary reactivity of the Ta/Co and Ta/Ir catalysts, a mild, solvent‐free tandem hydrogen isotope exchange/deuterogenation ...
