A traditional Chinese medicine versus Western combination therapy in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: two-stage study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2011
Background The common randomized controlled trial design has distinct limitations when applied to Chinese medicine, because Chinese medicine identifies and treats 'Chinese medicine patterns' rather than diagnosed diseases. Chinese medicine patterns are a

Affinity‐Based Protein Profiling Revealed that HIGD1A is a Direct Target Protein of Aristolochic Acids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using an affinity‐based probe, this study reveals that aristolochic acid directly binds to HIGD1A with high affinity in the kidney. This binding disrupts the HIGD1A‐TFAM interaction, which in turn triggers TFAM degradation, cytosolic mitochondrial DNA release, and the activation of inflammatory pathways. Abstract Exposure to aristolochic acids (AA) via

Arid1a Deficiency Drives Aristolochic Acid‐Induced Liver Tumorigenesis through Ctnnb1 Mutation and Defective Nucleotide Excision Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARID1A is frequently mutated in both non‐malignant tissues and cancers, but its role in tumor development after exposure to genotoxic carcinogen remains unclear. It is found that aristolochic acid I accelerated liver tumorigenesis in ARID1A‐deficient context by impairing nucleotide excision repair and enhancing carcinogen bioactivation, revealing key ...

Amino Acid Directed Helical Assemblies of Natural Berberine for Chirality‐Dependent Photodynamic Antibacterial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Helical nanostructures co‐assembled from berberine (BBR) and Fmoc‐Y display supramolecular‐chirality‐dependent photodynamic antibacterial activity. The molecular chirality of Fmoc‐Y organizes achiral BBR into chiral nanofibers, where supramolecular handedness controls bacterial surface adsorption, membrane penetration, intracellular BBR delivery, and ...

Smart Nanoparticles Disrupting Energy Supply through Triple Mechanisms to Kill Tumors via Dual Disruption of Mitochondria and Lysosomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a biomimetic nanoplatform (MTCA@C) designed for precise cancer therapy. It targets mitochondria to induce dysfunction through photodynamic activation, while concurrently blocking mitophagy via lysosomal alkalinization. The platform further triggers methuosis, resulting in tumor cell death through vacuolization and energy pathway ...
