Chip Formation in Cellular Materials
Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 2002The constitutive behavior of cellular materials like wood, especially with respect to the plastic and fracture mechanical properties, differs significantly from that of “classical” materials like steel. From this point of view, it appears interesting to investigate a process like chip formation, where both plasticity and fracture intervene.

Chip formation and hole quality in dry drilling additive manufactured Ti6Al4V
, 2020Dry drilling known as a sustainable and complicated machining operation is usually involved in many applications of titanium alloys. Previous studies have demonstrated that different surface qualities of the drilled holes influence the service ...

Experimental study on chip formation and surface quality in milling of TiB2/Al alloy composites
, 2020The in-situ TiB2/Al alloy composites are widely used in the aerospace industry due to excellent properties. Although TiB2/Al alloy composites have been investigated with regard to tool wear, surface defects and cutting force, chip formation is not widely

Chip Formation With Chamfered Tools
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1982The paper deals with the effect of chamfers on the tool edge on the chip formation process. It is found that both in continuous cutting and in the exit phase of interrupted cutting where chamfers are mostly used the chip formation process is not very different from that obtained with nonchamfered tools.

Dynamic Aspects of Chip Formation
Russian Engineering Research, 2018A multimass chain model of chip formation in the secondary deformation zone is proposed. The influence of the frictional conditions and cutting conditions on the group motion of the chip elements over the cutter’s front surface is shown. The dynamics of the motion of the chip’s free end has a significant influence on its fracture.

Continuous chip formation in drilling
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2005The formation of coil continous chips in drilling often leads to chip disposal problems. This paper investigates the drill chip formation process of continuous chips (spiral chips and string chips). Chip removing motions and forces are analyzed. Two models are developed to predict the spiral and string chip formation, respectively.

Chip Formation in Constrained Cutting
Russian Engineering Research, 2018Existing approaches to chip formation in free and constrained cutting are analyzed. A new approach to description of the chip formation zone in constrained cutting with a single conditional shear surface is proposed. An analytical description of the shape of that surface is presented in general form.

Microfluidic Gradient Formation for Nanoflow Chip LC
Analytical Chemistry, 2007We report a method for forming a nanoflow liquid chromatography (nano-LC) gradient using a single fluid pump at flow rates below 1 muL/min by passively forming a gradient on a microfluidic device. This device works together with an Agilent HPLC-Chip to perform high-throughput nanoflow liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (nano-LC/MS).

Chip Formation in Orthogonal Cutting
1999This paper is the result of a cooperation between the Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW), University of Hannover, Germany and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Brescia, Italy. The aim of the work is to validate the reliability of a Finite Element code in simulating orthogonal cutting operations ...

Inhomogeneous Shearing During Continuous Chip Formation
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1973Metallographic examination of chips cut from a directionally solidified eutectic provided direct evidence of discontinuous shearing in continuous chip formation. The built-in grid of the eutectic was deformed into the chevron type pattern associated with a double shearing process, but certain differences indicate that a plastic wave phenomena was ...
