CHIP MORPHOLOGY CHARACTERIZATION AND MODELING IN MACHINING HARDENED 52100 STEELS
Machining Science and Technology, 2007Hard machining is attracting more and more attention as an alternative to grinding in finish machining some hardened steels. The saw-toothed chips formed in hard machining have their own unique characteristics. The saw-toothed chip morphology is of great interest since the understanding of the saw-toothed chip morphology and its evolution in machining ...

Liver-cell patterning Lab Chip: mimicking the morphology of liver lobule tissue
Lab on a Chip, 2013A lobule-mimetic cell-patterning technique for on-chip reconstruction of centimetre-scale liver tissue of heterogeneous hepatic and endothelial cells via an enhanced field-induced dielectrophoresis (DEP) trap is demonstrated and reported. By mimicking the basic morphology of liver tissue, the classic hepatic lobule, the lobule-mimetic-stellate ...

Volume 2: Materials; Joint MSEC-NAMRC-Manufacturing USA, 2018
It is well known that the chip morphology predictions in machining simulations depend on the separation criteria used for modeling chip formation. In this paper, we propose to use two different criteria for chip separation and serration along with the Johnson-Cook damage model.

Influence of High-pressure Coolant Flow on the chip Morphology.
DENKI-SEIKO[ELECTRIC FURNACE STEEL], 2000In order to apply more effectively high-pressure coolant for breaking the chip in turning operations, several improvements for the design of jet nozzle are considered. By using this new design nozzle, the jet-flow force per unit area increase and the jet flow breaks almost any chips as long tangled chips into small in some cutting conditions.

What Do Chip Morphologies Tell Us About the Cutting Process?
2019Chip morphologies have been documented, classified and characterized for decades within the metal cutting community. Based on these studies, it is generally appreciated that chip morphologies reflect the underlying cutting process. However, specific details of plastic flow processes that are responsible for chip shape, roughness and morphology have ...
