Gas stripping in galaxy groups - the case of the starburst spiral NGC 2276 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Ram pressure stripping of galactic gas is generally assumed to be inefficient in galaxy groups due to the relatively low density of the intragroup medium and the small velocity dispersions of groups.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Effect of alloy composition on machining parameters and surface quality through comprehensive analysis

open access: yesFrontier Materials & Technologies
This study examined the influence of alloy composition (mild steel and aluminium) on several machining parameters, such as temperature, cutting force, surface roughness, and chip morphology.

Comparative studies of variation in end mill radial rake angle and cutting conditions on cutting force and surface integrity during machining of nimonic 263

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
Tool nomenclature has a profound effect on the machining of alloys and the cutting force during machining. In this study, the effect of changes in radial rake angle of end mill cutter (+7°,0°, −7°) and machining parameters such as spindle rotational ...

Hubble Space Telescope Observations of NGC 6240: a Case Study of an Ultra-Luminous Infrared Galaxy with Obscured Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We present results from an HST study of the morphology and kinematics of NGC 6240. This merging galaxy with a double nucleus is one of the nearest and best-studied ultraluminous infrared galaxies. HST resolves both nuclei into seperate components.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

In Situ TEM Study of the Degradation of PbSe Nanocrystals in Air [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
PbSe nanocrystals have attracted widespread attention due to a variety of potential applications. However, the practical utility of these nanocrystals has been hindered by their poor air stability, which induces undesired changes in the optical and ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
