Imaging spectroscopic performances for a Si based detection system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present the imaging and spectroscopic capabilities of a system based on a single photon counting chip (PCC) bump-bonded on a Si pixel detector. The system measures the energy spectrum and the flux, produced by a standard mammographic tube.

Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Performance of irradiated thin n-in-p planar pixel sensors for the ATLAS Inner Tracker upgrade

open access: yes, 2017
The ATLAS collaboration will replace its tracking detector with new all silicon pixel and strip systems. This will allow to cope with the higher radiation and occupancy levels expected after the 5-fold increase in the luminosity of the LHC accelerator ...

An atomistic simulation investigation on chip related phenomena in nanometric cutting of single crystal silicon at elevated temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Nanometric cutting of single crystal silicon on different crystal orientations and at a wide range of temperatures (300-1500 K) was studied through molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using two sorts of interatomic potentials, an analytical bond order ...

On-chip monolithic wide-angle field-of-view metalens based on quadratic phase profile

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
With the rapid development of integrated optics, bulky and curved traditional lenses cannot meet the requirements of on-chip optical systems. Alternatively, the metalenses based on the artificial subwavelength structure possess ultra-thin and lightweight

Positive‐Tone Nanolithography of Antimony Trisulfide with Femtosecond Laser Wet‐Etching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A butyldithiocarbamic acid (BDCA) etchant is used to fabricate various micro‐ and nanoscale structures on amorphous antimony trisulfide (a‐Sb2S3) thin film via femtosecond laser etching. Numerical analysis and experimental results elucidate the patterning mechanism on gold (reflective) and quartz (transmissive) substrates.

Modelling High Speed Machining with the SPH Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The purpose of this work is to evaluate the use of the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method within the framework of high speed cutting modelling. First, a 2D SPH based model is carried out using the LS-DYNA® software.

Determination of Chip Compression Ratio for the Orthogonal Cutting Process

open access: yesJournal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing
The chip compression ratio is the most important characteristic of various machining processes with chip generation. This characteristic enables the determination of kinetic and other energy loads on the tool and the machined material.

Performance Evaluation of Backside Emitting O-Band Grating Couplers for 100-$\mu$m-Thick Silicon Photonics Interposers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
Most of the single-mode fiber-coupled grating couplers reported in the literature have been designed for upward directionality to perform wafer-scale testing of photonic-integrated circuits.

Equivalent Chip Thickness and its Influence on Tool Life

open access: yesProcedia Manufacturing, 2018
This paper investigates the accuracy of using the Woxen equivalent chip thickness to represent feed, depth of cut, nose radius and major cutting angle in tool life modeling of machining low alloy steel in longitudinal turning. Hagglund’s way of calculating the equivalent chip thickness has been used and compared to the Woxen equation.
