All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Dynamic analysis of runout correction in milling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Tool runout and its effects is an important area of research within modelling, simulation, and control of milling forces. Tool runout causes tool cutting edges to experience uneven forces during milling.

Modeling of the Distribution of Undeformed Chip Thickness Based on the Real Interference Depth of the Active Abrasive Grain

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Distribution of the maximum undeformed chip thickness can be approximated as the reproduction of grooves and protrusions of the grinding surface. It plays a very important role in grinding process as it has a close influence on the prediction and ...

Prospects of Electric Field Control in Perpendicular Magnetic Tunnel Junctions and Emerging 2D Spintronics for Ultralow Energy Memory and Logic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electric control of magnetic tunnel junctions offers a path to drastically reduce the energy requirements of the device. Electric field control of magnetization can be realized in a multitude of ways. These mechanisms can be integrated into existing spintronic devices to further reduce the operational energy.

Modelling of material cutting with a material microstructure-level (MML) model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this research work a material microstructure-level cutting model (MML cutting model) is presented. The crystal plasticity theory is adopted for modeling the cutting of the titanium alloy Ti–6Al–4V in orthogonal case.

The self-excitation damping ratio: A chatter criterion for time-domain milling simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Regenerative chatter is known to be a key factor that limits the productivity of high speed machining. Consequently, a great deal of research has focused on developing predictive models of milling dynamics, to aid engineers involved in both research and ...

Operating Experience of New Indoor Chip Yard and Chip Thickness Screening System (CTSS).

open access: yesJAPAN TAPPI JOURNAL, 2002
The new indoor chip yard was installed aiming at increase in chip storing capacity of the mill and the worn-out chip screening system was replaced with the new CTSS at Kishu Mill in 1998. The indoor chip yard is the warehouse-type steel structure of which capacity is about 33, 700 m3.

Kinetic Insights into Precursor‐Assisted Soft Sphere Close Packing Revealed by In Situ GISAXS with Implications for Gas Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

Double Helical Plasmonic Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic double helical antennas funnel circularly polarized light to the nanoscale, offering strong chiroptical interaction and directional light emission. Extending a single helix design tool, this study combines numerical modeling with experimental validation, revealing large, broadband dissymmetry factors in the visible range.
