A 32-Bit Single Quadrant Angle-Controlled Chipless Tag for Radio Frequency Identification Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2022
A 32-bit chipless RFID tag operating in the 4.5–10.9 GHz band is presented in this paper. The tag has a unique multiple-arc-type shape consisting of closely packed 0.2 mm wide arcs of different radii and lengths.

Indoor Visible Light Applications for Communication, Positioning, and Security

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
With the rapid development of smart cities, white light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) are widely used in indoor lighting due to their characteristics of energy‐saving, long lifetimes, and low cost. At the same time, the high‐frequency modulated LEDs allow visible light to be used for indoor communications, positioning, and security. Visible light applications

Industry 4.0‐Oriented Chipless RFID Backscatter Signal Variable Polarization Amplitude Deep Learning Coding

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Due to the weak network security protection capabilities of control system network protocols under Industry 4.0, the research on industrial control network intrusion detection is still in its infancy. This article discussed and researched the intrusion prevention technology of industrial control networks based on deep learning.

Improved detection scheme for chipless RFIDs using prolate spheroidal wave function-based noise filtering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A novel, highly sensitive scheme to detect the resonance peaks in the spectrum of chipless RFID signals is presented. The detection is based on finding the zeros in the derivative of the group delay of the received signal.

“Unconventionally Shaped” Antenna Design for UHF RFID Tags

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
UHF RFID tags need to be attached or embedded into various objects. Unlike traditional free‐standing antennas, UHF antenna shapes and form factors may vary significantly. There have been no systematic methods that facilitate the design practice of antenna with unconventional shapes. In this paper, using the geometries of 26 English letters (in capital)

A Single VCO Chipless RFID Nearfield Reader [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An extremely simple, low-cost, chipless RFID reader is demonstrated. The reader consists of only a single voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) as the detector front end.

Motion-Modulated Chipless RFID

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2023
This paper addresses the new type of backscatter communication based on motion-modulated chipless Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags. To clearly explain the concept, the different methods of backscatter communication are classified from a system ...

An Inkjet Printed Chipless RFID Sensor for Wireless Humidity Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A novel chipless RFID humidity sensor based on a finite Artificial Impedance Surface (AIS) is presented. The unit cell of the AIS is composed of three concentric loops thus obtaining three deep and high Q nulls in the electromagnetic response of the tag.

Time-domain-signature chipless RFID tags : near-field chipless-RFID systems with high data capacity [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Microwave Magazine, 2019
Chipless RF identification (RFID) technology has emerged as an alternative to RFID systems that have tags equipped with silicon integrated circuits (ICs), or chips [1]-[12]. The main advantage of chipless RFID systems over their chipped counterparts is the lower cost of the tags, which results from the fact that the ID code is contained in a printed ...

Complex Natural Resonance-Based Chipless RFID Multi-Tag Detection Using One-Dimensional Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
This paper proposes a chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) multi-tag detection system. The one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D CNN) was employed as an intelligent classifier of the proposed system, which was fed by complex natural ...
