We investigate the most interesting decay processes involving axions, photons and the lightest pseudoscalar mesons, making use of a chiral effective Lagrangian model with $$L=3$$ L=3 light quark flavors, which also includes the flavor-singlet ...

a → πππ decay at next-to-leading order in chiral perturbation theory
We discuss the construction of the two-flavour axion-pion effective Lagrangian at the next-to-leading order (NLO) in chiral perturbation theory and present, as a phenomenological application, the calculation of the decay rate of a GeV-scale axion-like ...

Chiral Dynamics and the Low Energy Kaon-Nucleon Interaction [PDF]
We examine the meson-baryon interaction in the strangeness S=-1 sector using an effective chiral Lagrangian. Potentials are derived from this Lagrangian and used in a coupled-channel calculation of the low energy observables.

The lagrangian formulation of chiral scalars
Abstract The lagrangian proposed by Siegel describing left- or right-moving scalars in two dimensions is analysed. The existence of anomalies is pointed out and a modification of the lagrangian leading to the elimination of anomalies is proposed. The generalization for chiral scalars defined on an arbitrary Riemann surface is discussed.

On QCD predictions for the chiral Lagrangian coefficients [PDF]
Based on a previous study of deriving the chiral Lagrangian (CL) from QCD, we illustrate the main feature of QCD predictions for the CL coefficients (CLC) in certain approximations. We first show that, in the large-N(c) limit, the anomaly part contributions to the CLC are exactly cancelled by certain terms in the normal part contributions (NPC), so ...

On the Equivalence Theorem in the $\chi PT$ Description of the Symmetry Breaking Sector of the Standard Model [PDF]
We develop an alternative formulation of the symmetry breaking sector of the Standard Model as a gauged non-linear sigma model (NLSM) following the philosophy of the Chiral lagrangian approach, which is the only compatible with all the experimental and ...

Remarks on the U(1) axial symmetry and the chiral transition in QCD at finite temperature [PDF]
We discuss the role of the U(1) axial symmetry for the scalar and pseudoscalar meson mass spectrum of QCD at finite temperature, above the chiral transition at T_c, using a chiral effective Lagrangian model, which, in addition to the usual chiral ...

Anomaly matching in QCD thermal phase transition
We study an ’t Hooft anomaly of massless QCD at finite temperature. With the imaginary baryon chemical potential at the Roberge-Weiss point, there is a ℤ2 symmetry which can be used to define confinement.

Effective chiral lagrangian in the chiral limit from the instanton vacuum
We study the effective chiral Lagrangian in the chiral limit from the instanton vacuum. Starting from the nonlocal effective chiral action, we derive the effective chiral Lagrangian, using the derivative expansion to order $O(p^4)$ in the chiral limit ...

Formulations of spin 1 resonances in the chiral lagrangian [PDF]
Equivalence of the hidden local symmetry formulation with non-minimal interactions and the anti-symmetric tensor field method of $\rho$ and $a_1$ mesons in the chiral lagrangian is shown by using the auxiliary field method.
