Coherent Stokes Raman Scattering for Simultaneous Measurement of CO2 and CH4 Temperatures
A three‐beam hybrid fs/ps CSRS method is employed to excite the rovibrational transitions in the Fermi‐dyad of CO 2 and the v2 mode of CH 4. Time‐domain spectroscopic models are developed to extract the fuel and flame temperature profiles from experimental CH 4 and CO 2 spectra in a diffusion flame.

Ultra‐High Isolation Decoupling and Matching Network for mmWave Antennas in Near‐Range FMCW Radars
ABSTRACT A decoupling and matching network (DMN) based on substrate integrated coaxial line technique is proposed to suppress the mutual coupling between a pair of transmitting and receiving antennas operating at 35 GHz. The distorted radiation patterns, typically observed in closely spaced antennas, were improved by introducing carefully designed ...

Abstract Estimating suspended sediment concentration (SSC) in river channels is essential for understanding hydro‐sedimentological processes, managing water quality, and conserving aquatic ecosystems. This study evaluated different empirical equations to estimate SSC in the lower Madeira River and analyzed its hydro‐sedimentary dynamics based on MODIS ...

Signal development for chirp side-scan sonar
Thesis (M. Ing.) -- University of Stellenbosch, 1992.At present there exists little if any published literature dealing with chirp side-scan sonar. It is suggested that chirp side-scan sonar offers range and resolution improvements over commercially ...

ABSTRACT To reduce the need for scheduled wind turbine blade inspections and large‐scale repairs, a novel distributed acoustic sensing system for monitoring the structural health of wind turbine blades is proposed. This integral passive monitoring system utilizes a sparse array of in‐blade multimodal sensors and a single blade‐external downtower sensor,

Abstract Drought is one of the most severe and complex natural hazards causing changes in water balance and impeding crucial water‐dependent ecosystem services. Over the last 25 years, multiple severe droughts linked to El Niño events have affected the Zambian and Zimbabwean regions.

Policy implications. Our results can help prioritize surveillance strategies and the implementation of preventive measures, particularly in areas where landscape structures cannot provide disease regulation services. Landscape management actions aimed at increasing the amount of forest areas in a more aggregated manner could help restore those ...

A New Time-Frequency Approach for Weak Chirp Signal Detection
Several methods have been proposed to detect chirp signals buried in white noise, including wavelet shrinkage and matching pursuits. However, most of these methods perform poorly when the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) becomes very low (e.g. lower than 0 dB).
