Produção de populações monossexo macho de tilápia-do-nilo da linhagem Chitralada Production of monosex male nile tilapia populations of the Chitralada strain

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2008

Quantitative Genetic Variation and Response for Harvest Body Weight in a Selection Program for Red Tilapia (Oreochromis spp.)

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Genetic variation is indispensable for both natural and artificial selection, as well as evolution, adaptation, and the long‐term success of selective breeding programs. This study attempted to scrutinise genetic variations and responses within the breeding population of red tilapia across eight generations of selection (2016–2023).

Optimization of Growth Performance of Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in Biofloc Farming: Evaluating Growth Performance and System Stability Under Reduced Feeding Regimes

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study assessed the effect of different feeding levels on the growth performance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as well as on the stability of the biofloc system over a 9‐week experimental period. Three feeding levels were tested: BFT100 (100% of a complete ration), BFT75 (75% of a complete ration), and BFT50 (50% of a complete ration).

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2009

Reproductive Traits in Different Genetically Improved Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Strains Raised in Brackish Water

open access: yesAquaculture Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Inland aquaculture using underground brackish water is a promising method to alleviate pressure on freshwater resources. Nile tilapia stains utilized for commercial production can also tolerate low‐salinity brackish water. Therefore, the goal of this study was to compare the reproductive performance of females and males of five genetically different ...

Assessment of waste generated from fresh Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus in Accra, Ghana

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 4, Issue 3, June 2024.
Abstract Aquaculture is a key component of Ghana's food system strategies, promoting sustainable animal protein production. Aquaculture complements traditional marine capture fisheries to close the gap between demand and supply. However, about one third of fish produced globally have been reported to go to waste yearly. Among the various cultured fish,
