Interaction between Chlorella vulgaris and nitrifying-enriched activated sludge in the treatment of wastewater with low C/N ratio

, 2020
Wastewater treatment based on algae-bacteria consortia is expected to find use among other biological processes. In this report, the effects of the inoculation ratios of a Chlorella vulgaris and nitrifier-enriched-activated-sludge (NAS) consortium on ...

Chlorella Photosensitization

International Journal of Dermatology, 1984
ABSTRACT: Swelling followed by erythematopurpuric lesions on sun‐exposed areas of the body developed in five patients. All patients were found to have ingested chlorella. The histopathologic changes consisted of swelling of endothelial cells and thrombosis of small blood vessels in the dermis and the subcutaneous fatty tissue.

Effect of microplastics and microplastic-metal combinations on growth and chlorophyll a concentration of Chlorella vulgaris.

Science of the Total Environment, 2020
Microplastic pollution has become a global problem and it is threatening soil and water bodies around the world. In this study, i) the sole effect of 0.5 μm sized polystyrene microplastics under different concentrations (1, 5, 50, 100, and 1000 mg/L) and

Chlorella‐Loaded Antibacterial Microneedles for Microacupuncture Oxygen Therapy of Diabetic Bacterial Infected Wounds

Advances in Materials
Hypoxia and infection are urgent clinical problems in chronic diabetic wounds. Herein, living Chlorella‐loaded poly(ionic liquid)‐based microneedles (PILMN‐Chl) are constructed for microacupuncture oxygen and antibacterial therapy against methicillin ...

Polystyrene microplastics enhanced the effect of PFOA on Chlorella sorokiniana: Perspective from the cellular and molecular levels.

Journal of Hazardous Materials
Microplastics (MPs) commonly coexist with other contaminants and alter their toxicity. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), an emerging pollutant, may interact with MPs but remain largely unknown about the joint toxicity of PFOA and MPs.

Magnetic Fe3O4-polyethyleneimine nanocomposites for efficient harvesting of Chlorella zofingiensis, Chlorella vulgaris, Chlorella sorokiniana, Chlorella ellipsoidea and Botryococcus braunii

Algal Research, 2018
Abstract A reduction in energy consumption at every stage of the down streaming process is needed to make 3rd generation of biofuels economically viable. In this study, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were synthetized by coprecipitation of FeCl2 and FeCl3 in alkaline medium at two different temperatures.
