Polyphyletic origin of the Dictyosphaerium-morphotype within Chlorellaceae (Trebouxiophyceae).
2010The green algal Dictyosphaerium morphotype is characterized by spherical or oval cells connected by gelatinized strands to microscopic colonies, which are covered by prominent mucilaginous envelopes. Combined SSU and ITS rRNA gene sequence analyses revealed that this morphotype evolved independently both in the Chlorella and Parachlorella clades of the

SUMMARYIn the traditional sense, several families of Chlorococcales sensu lato, such as Golenkiniaceae, Micractiniaceae, and Scenedesmaceae contained taxa with bristle formation, whereas the Chlorellaceae contained only genera without bristles. However, phylogenetic analyses of the small subunit (SSU) and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA ...

A potential novel genus of microalgae was isolated from swine wastewater. According to a phylogenetic analysis of 18S rRNA and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequences, as well as the ITS2 secondary structure, this strain was designated as Chlorellaceae sp. P5.

Phytohormone effects on cell division inChlorella pyrenoidosa chick (TX-7-11-05) (chlorellaceae)
Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, 1987Phytohormone effects on cell division of synchronous cultures ofChlorella pyrenoidosa (TX-7-11-05) were studied under different photo flux densities. The time required for initiation of incipient cell division was reduced significantly by treatment with kinetin (6-furfurylaminopurine), gibberellic acid, and indole-3-acetic acid.

Previous antarctic records of Pseudococcomyxa simplex are summarized and, together with new records, the alga is shown to have a circumpolar distribution in terrestrial habitats. It has been encountered over a latitudinal range of 54° to 77°S in sub-, maritime and coastal continental Antarctica, from sea-level to an altitude of 3600 m.

Bacteria and Yeasts are able to induce, when inoculated into laboratory rodents, a general stimulation of defences by an immune process. We could estimate that unicellular algae would induce the same phenomenon because the chemical compounds of their walls are related to those of the precedings microorganisms specially to bacteria.
