Carbon Dot Self‐Assembly: Bottom‐Up Fabrication, Morphological Evolution, Luminescence Regulation, and Advanced Applications

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
The self‐assembly of carbon dots, which enables precise control over their macroscopic architectures and collective properties, profoundly enhances their functionality. This review systematically summarizes the field through four key aspects—morphology control, luminescence modulation, assembly mechanisms, and advanced applications—and thereby offers a

Color and COD Removal From ECF Effluent by Airlift Reactor With Immobilized Lentinus edodes

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
Airlift bioreactor treating ECF bleaching effluent with Lentinus edodes immobilized on polystyrene fibers achieved up to 48% color and 41% COD removal. Under optimized aeration (300 mL/min) and HRT (78 h) without glucose, COD removal remained stable for 15 days, supporting a low‐input, enzyme‐driven strategy for pulp‐and‐paper wastewater. ABSTRACT This

Simultaneous Laser Reduction of Sn/Sb Salts and Graphene Formation as Innovative Anode Material for Li‐ and Na‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 5, May 2026.
A novel, scalable method for laser‐induced graphene–metal composite anodes for Li‐ion and Na‐ion batteries fabrication is reported. Embedded Sn, Sb, and Sn‐Sb alloy nanoparticles in graphene are created, which can accommodate volume changes during cycling, enhancing stability and rate performance.

Mercury (II) Removal From Stock Solutions Using Pulsed Electrochemical Technique Coupled With Biochar Adsorbent

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Pulsed electrooxidation combined with magnetic biochar adsorption achieved up to 98.9% Hg(II) removal from synthetic water. Optimal conditions (pH‐6.03, 34.15 min, 1.55 g/L biochar, 0.43 A, 227 mg/L Hg) enhanced efficiency beyond electrooxidation alone, demonstrating a synergistic, energy‐efficient treatment approach.

Contaminants of emerging concern in agricultural soils: Current understanding, overlooked issues, and future priorities

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 792-810, May 2026.
Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in agriculture represent a growing global challenge for food safety and public health. In this review, we synthesized evidence on how substances such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics, and per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) enter soils, accumulate in crops, and affect ecological and human health. We found

First Access to Tetraazadiindenopyrenes via Selective Pyrrole Cyclization of Phenyl‐Substituted Tetraazapyrene Derivatives on Au(111)

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
Contrary to long‐held expectations of on‐surface chemistry, tetraphenyl‐substituted tetraazapyrene undergoes selective pyrrole cyclization and C–C coupling on Au(111), forming a distinctive N‐doped nanographene consisting of fused tetraazadiindenopyrene and phenanthrene cores with embedded pyridinic and graphitic nitrogen.
