Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in Infertile Women

Environmental Research, 1999
This study was conducted to investigate the hypothesis that chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHC) may affect fertility in women. In 489 infertile women, CHC levels were measured in whole blood. Different anamnestic and clinical parameters were obtained or investigated in order to detect possible associations to CHC concentrations.

Understanding the Dechlorination of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in the Pyrolysis of Mixed Plastics [PDF]

open access: yesACS Sustainable Chemistry and Engineering, 2021
The dechlorination of chlorine containing hydrocarbons in pyrolysis vapor is poorly understood. In order to shed new light on the dechlorination mechanism, a model mixture composed of iso-octane doped with 2-chlorobutane, 2-chloroethylbenzene, and ...

Chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents

Clinics in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2004
Chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, such as trichloroethylene and 1,1,1-trichloroethane, have been used widely in many industries because of their ready ability to dissolve oils, greases, and other materials, their low acute toxicity, and their non-flammability.

Combustion of chlorinated hydrocarbons

22nd Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1984
Thermal destruction by incineration of chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHC) is an attractive method for the volume reduction and ultimate disposal of wastes. The present paper provides further insight into the fundamental properties of CHC for understanding the mechanism, rates of oxidation and other combustion characteristics, e.g., flame stability ...

Decomposition of Chlorinated Hydrocarbons: A Review

American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1972
An up-to-date review and criticism of reports on the decomposition of chlorinated hydrocarbons led to the conclusion that temperature and metal surface were prime factors in the production of phosgene, hydrogen chloride, chlorine and other decomposition products.

Estrogenlc activities of chlorinated hydrocarbons

Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, 1978
Some DDT analogs are estrogenic, particularly o,p'-DDT, which comprises approximately 15-20% of the commercial DDT mixture. Whether this compound or its metabolites are active has not been established. In fact, the data obtained thus far are more confusing than enlightening.

Chlorinated hydrocarbons: estrogens and antiestrogens

Toxicology Letters, 1995
2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) and related compounds bind to the intracellular aryl hydrocarbon (Ah) receptor and induce a diverse spectrum of biochemical and toxic responses. Ah receptor agonists also modulate several endocrine pathways, and research in several laboratories has shown that TCDD and related compounds inhibit estrogen (E2 ...

Chlorinated Hydrocarbons in British Wildlife

Nature, 1967
Polychlorobiphenyl compounds have been detected in British wildlife. In birds' livers and eggs they are often in greater quantities than organochlorine pesticide residues. Polychlorobiphenyls are known to be toxic, and their detection in wildlife raises the question of the adverse effect they may have.

PYROLYSIS AND CHLORINATION OF SMALL HYDROCARBONS

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1992
The bases of the kinetic modeling of Chlorine containing systems are addressed in this article A kinetic scheme, involving more than 300 elementary reactions and 46 molecular and radicalic species, has been developed based on general thermochemical kinetic theories as well as the consolidated know-how in the field of hydrocarbon pyrolysis Several ...
