NMR Quantum Calculations of the Jones Polynomial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The repertoire of problems theoretically solvable by a quantum computer recently expanded to include the approximate evaluation of knot invariants, specifically the Jones polynomial. The experimental implementation of this evaluation, however, involves many known experimental challenges.

ETHER AND CHLOROFORM. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Medical Association, 1896
I am just now entering upon my fifth decade as a practitioner of medicine, and though it is a humiliating reflection, yet it is a fact, that what I learned of therapeutics during one of these epochs, I had to unlearn in the next, and that with all my delving among the resources of the materia medica, I can now count upon the fingers of both hands ...

Regulating Protein Immobilization During Cell‐Free Protein Synthesis in Hyaluronan Microgels

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Bifunctional microgels carrying a linear DNA template and Ni2+‐activated NTA moieties are used as platform for cell‐free protein synthesis and in situ protein immobilization. By varying the concentration of NTA moieties in the microgels, the amount of GFP‐His immobilized inside the microgel and released to the microgel environment can be regulated ...

Scaling Up Synthetic Cell Production Using Robotics and Machine Learning Toward Therapeutic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Synthetic cells (SCs) hold great promise for biomedical applications, but manual production limits scalability. This study presents an automated method for large‐scale SC synthesis, integrating robotic liquid handling and machine learning‐driven high‐throughput characterization.

Improved Mechanical Performance of Epoxy Systems with Low Loadings of Milled Carbon Fiber via Chemical Surface Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The authors explore thermally initiated diazonium chemical surface modification as a means of improving the mechanical performance of milled carbon fibers in epoxy matrix systems at varying loadings by weight. They report significant improvements at <1% w/w loading through examination of flexural and tensile strength and modulus.

Exploring the Effect of Polymer Addition to the Room Temperature Synthesis of Colloidal Lead Halide Perovskite for Better Stability, Higher Passivation, and More Uniform Particle Size

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the incorporation of the polymer BUTVAR during the synthesis of various perovskite structures at room temperature The study demonstrates that the incorporation of the polymer solution enhances the optical characteristics and improves the shape uniformity of the resultant perovskite material without altering the inherent structure of

Atomically Flat Dielectric Patterns for Bandgap Engineering and Lateral Junction Formation in MoSe2 Monolayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a method to create atomically flat dielectric patterns of SiO2 and AlOx for MoSe2 monolayers, forming lateral heterojunctions with minimal strain. The dielectric pattern modulates excitonic properties, contact potential, and carrier dynamics, demonstrating a tunable approach for enhancing the optoelectronic properties of 2D ...

The Significance of Bundling Effects on Carbon Nanotubes' Response to Hydrostatic Compression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The study of the G-mode pressure coefficients of carbon nanotubes, reflecting the stiff sp2 bond pressure dependence, is essential to the understanding of their extraordinary mechanical properties as well as fundamental mechanics. However, it is hindered by the availability of carbon nanotubes samples only as bundles or isolated with surfactants ...

UTILIZATION OF AQUEOUS, METHANOL AND CHLOROFORM EXTRACTS OF LOCAL PLANTS- IXORA COCCINEA AND HIBISCUS SABDARRIFFA (ZOBO) FROM ABAKALIKI AS FABRIC DYES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This investigation dealt with the dyeing and fastness properties of crude constituents of Ixora coccinea and Hibiscus sabdarriffa plant species extracted using distilled water, methanol and chloroform. Approximately 150 g of each sample was soaked in the
