Removal of Chloroform in Groundwater by Bioremediation

open access: yes, 2010
Anaerobic sludge were cultured and acclimated by adding different co-metabolism substrates under six operating conditions, using chloroform as model contaminant in an anaerobic environment.

Coaxial Melt Electrowriting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Coaxial melt electrowriting is established to produce dual‐property microfibers with diameters spanning 1.6–29.2 µm. Stable coaxial laminar flow is preserved under electrohydrodynamic thinning, enabling controlled binary and gradient material switching within individual continuous fibers.

Natural production of chloroform by fungi

open access: yes, 1998
Chloroform production was detected in the headspace of pure cultures of the basidiomycetes Mycena metata and Peniophora pseudopini and the deuteromycete Caldariomyces fumago.

Turning Water Into a Tool: From Degradation Pathways to Functional Engineering in Halide Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Water exhibits a threshold‐dependent dual role in lead halide perovskites, acting either as a degradation trigger or as a powerful tool for defect passivation, recrystallization, and structural engineering. This review discusses how controlled water‐mediated interactions govern stability, dimensionality, and optoelectronic performance, providing ...

THE MECHANISM OF THE DECOMPOSITION OF CHLOROFORM [PDF]

open access: yes, 1955
Since LIEBIG l) showed in 1832 that chloroform decomposes in aqueous potassium hydroxide, the reaction has been investigated by a number of authors2)S) in aqueous and alcoholic alkaline solution and the end products were confirmed to be carbon monoxide ...

Polar stacking of molecules in liquid chloroform

open access: yes, 2015
Using neutron diffraction and the isotopic substitution technique we have investigated the local structure of liquid chloroform. A strong tendency for polar stacking of molecules with collinear alignment of dipole moments is found.

Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...
