Chloroform ingestion causing severe gastrointestinal injury, hepatotoxicity and dermatitis confirmed with plasma chloroform concentrations

open access: yes, 2016
Context: Poisoning due to chloroform ingestion is rare. The classic features of acute chloroform toxicity include central nervous system (CNS) and respiratory depression, and delayed hepatotoxicity. Case details: A 30-year-old female ingested 20–30 mL of

Resistance to Overdoping Allows Over 2000 S cm−1 Conductivity in P(g3BTTT) With Anion‐Exchange Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Anion‐exchange doping of conjugated polymers is an effective way to achieve high conductivities. Here, we report over 2000 S cm−1 electrical conductivity for doped P(g3BTTT). In addition, we show that P(g3BTTT) sustains exceptionally high doping levels without any drop in the charge mobility.

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

Chloroform Bioactivation Leading to Nucleic Acids Binding

open access: yes, 1991
Chloroform was bound covalently to DNA, RNA and proteins of rat and mouse organs in vivo after i.p. injection. Covalent Binding Index values of rat and mouse liver DNA classify chloroform as a weak initiator.

Large‐Scale Determination of Frontier Orbital Energies of Disordered Small‐Molecule Organic Semiconductors Using Exciplex Emission Spectra

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurately knowing the frontier orbital energies of the structurally disordered small‐molecule organic semiconductors that are used in optoelectronic devices such as organic light‐emitting diodes is required to rationally improve their performance. Here, we show that these energies can be deduced with a large accuracy from the peak energies of

On‐Water Surface Synthesis of 2D Conjugated Metal–Organic Framework Films With Controllable Layer Orientation Enabling High‐Performance Chemiresistive Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Layer orientation dictates charge transport in 2D conjugated metal–organic frameworks, yet controllable methods remain scarce. We report surfactant monolayer‐assisted on‐water synthesis of cm2‐scale Ni‐HHTP films with programmable face‐on and edge‐on orientations.

Revisiting chloroform emissions from the pulp and paper sector: a brief communication

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Halogenated very short-lived substances (VSLS) represent a growing source of chlorine to the stratosphere where they may contribute to ozone layer depletion.
