The mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT/MIT) is a biocide widely used as a preservative in various commercial products. This biocide has also been used as an active ingredient in humidifier disinfectants in South Korea, resulting in serious health effects among users.
