Planktonic microbial communities from microbialite‐bearing lakes sampled along a salinity‐alkalinity gradient

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 67, Issue 12, Page 2718-2733, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Continental freshwater systems are particularly vulnerable to environmental variation. Climate change‐induced desertification and the anthropogenic exploitation of hydric resources result in the progressive evaporation and salinization of inland water bodies in many areas of the globe.

Significant Tumor Inhibition of Trimethyl‐152‐[L‐aspartyl]pheophorbide a in Tumor Photodynamic Therapy≠

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Novel pheophorbide A, a chlorophyll‐derived compound was prepared by simple and sustainable synthesis. Small structural change to known molecules has a profound effect on the PDT efficacy and its phototoxicity is substantially higher than reference compound m‐THPC.

Interactive effects of temperature and nitrogen source on the elemental stoichiometry of a polar diatom

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 67, Issue 12, Page 2750-2762, December 2022., 2022
Abstract A recent study hypothesized that the near‐zero temperatures that generally prevail in Arctic waters negate the influence that different nitrogen (N) sources can otherwise have on the growth and elemental stoichiometry of marine micro‐algae. Here we test this hypothesis experimentally by evaluating how temperature (0–9°C) affects the growth and

Automated Investigation of Metal‐Ligand Interactions by a Newly Established Robotic Workflow for Titrations

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
A workflow for the automated generation of UV/Vis and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) samples of metal complex solutions is described in detail. The protocol consists of a preparation part and the actual automated titration part with following sampling of the corresponding metal complex solution.

From minute to day: Ecophysiological response of phytoplankton to fluctuating light exposure during vertical mixing

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 67, Issue 12, Page 2809-2820, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Underwater light is a highly dynamic resource for phytoplankton. Fluctuating light influences photosynthesis, respiration, biosynthesis, and growth at different timescales, but the interplay of these processes is not well‐understood. Subsamples of a phytoplankton community from the turbid, well‐mixed lake TaiHu (China) were either vertically ...

Sustainable Synthesis, Characterization, Cellular Effects of Gold Nanoparticles and Their Applications as Therapeutics in Cancer Therapy

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are widely used in biomedicine, electronics, catalysis, and environmental science. Conventional synthesis relies on harsh chemicals, driving interest in eco‐friendly methods using plants, bacteria, fungi, and algae. Biomolecules like polyphenols, proteins, and fatty acids aid nanoparticle synthesis under mild conditions. This
