Photosynthetic responses of heat-stressed apple leaves to foliar application of salicylic and ascorbic acid

open access: yesPhotosynthetica
High temperatures have significant impacts on fruit tree production. Foliar spraying application of promoting agents can be a sustainable approach to managing high-temperature stress in orchards.

Conversion of Chlorophyll b to Chlorophyll a and the Assembly of Chlorophyll with Apoproteins by Isolated Chloroplasts [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1997
Abstract The photosynthetic apparatus is reorganized during acclimation to various light environments. During adaptation of plants grown under a low-light to high-light environment, the light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b-protein complexes decompose concomitantly with an increase in the core complex of photosystem II.

The Diverse Modes of Oxygen Reactivity in Life & Chemistry

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 15, Issue 24, December 20, 2022., 2022
Breath of life: Oxygen is the quintessential molecule of life on our planet. Three molecular oxygen species dominate natural and artificial oxygenation reactions: the singlet and triplet spin states of dioxygen and ozone. This Review summarizes key applications of these molecular oxygen species in biology, medicine, technologies, and laboratories ...

Adaptive Sampling of Algal Blooms Using Autonomous Underwater Vehicle and Satellite Imagery: Experimental Validation in the Baltic Sea [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper investigates using satellite data to improve adaptive sampling missions, particularly for front tracking scenarios such as with algal blooms. Our proposed solution to find and track algal bloom fronts uses an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) equipped with a sensor that measures the concentration of chlorophyll a and satellite data.

Low complexity model to study scale dependence of phytoplankton dynamics in the tropical Pacific [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. E 103, 012401 (2021), 2020
We demonstrate that a simple model based on reaction-diffusion-advection (RDA) equation forced by realistic surface velocities and nutrients is skilled in reproducing the distributions of the surface phytoplankton chlorophyll in the tropical Pacific. We use the low-complexity RDA model to investigate the scale-relationships in the impact of different ...

The stability of pigments in the thalli and extracts of the Barents Sea fucus algae

open access: yesVestnik MGTU, 2019
Fucus algae of the Barents Sea are a promising source of biologically active substances (BAS), including carotenoid and chlorophyll pigments. The main direction of processing these types of brown algae is aimed at obtaining polysaccharides, and therefore

Coherence and population dynamics of chlorophyll excitations in FCP complex: Two-dimensional spectroscopy study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The energy transfer processes and coherent phenomena in the fucoxanthin-chlorophyll protein complex, which is responsible for the light harvesting function in marine algae diatoms, were investigated at 77 K by using two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy.

Chlorophyll a Sensitiser [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1900
IT was with a feeling of great satisfaction that I read the concluding lines of Dr. H. Brown's highly interesting presidential address (NATURE, September 14, 1899). I was glad to see that this distinguished chemist, to whom the physiology of plants is so much indebted, adopts certain views on the chlorophyll function, which I have been defending for ...

Optimization and effects of different culture conditions on growth of Halomicronema hongdechloris – a filamentous cyanobacterium containing chlorophyll f

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
A chlorophyll f containing cyanobacterium, Halomicronema hongdechloris (H. hongdechloris) was isolated from a stromatolite cyanobacterial community. However, the extremely slower growth rate of H. hongdechloris culture became a critical factor, hindering
