Soybean Auxin Transporter PIN3 Regulates Nitrate Acquisition to Improve Nitrogen Use and Seed Traits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Xu et al. discovers that switching off auxin transporters in soybean, PIN3a and PIN3b, disrupts auxin flow; this triggers ARF‐STF3/4 signal cascade to activate the nitrate importer NPF2.13 and soil nitrogen acquisition. Multi‐year field trials show edited soybeans maintain yield with higher oil content, offering a potential genetic route to improve ...

Identification of a Chlorophyll Dephytylase Involved in Chlorophyll Turnover in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yesThe Plant Cell, 2016
Chlorophyll turns over in green organs during photosystem repair and is salvaged via de- and rephytylation, but the enzyme involved in dephytylation is unknown. We have identified an Arabidopsis thaliana thylakoid protein with a putative hydrolase domain that can dephytylate chlorophyll in vitro and in vivo.

A Trypsin‐Like Serine Protease ZmNAL1a Fine‐Tunes Maize Floral Transition and Flowering Time

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a trypsin‐like serine protease, ZmNAL1a, that moves from leaves to the shoot apical meristem. ZmNAL1a promotes the floral transition by degrading TOPLESS‐like corepressor REL2, which thereby enhances the expression of key flowering genes through elevating histone acetylation and relieving REL2–ZmEREBP147‐mediated transcriptional ...

Principles for Rigorous Design and Application of Synthetic Microbial Communities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SynComs are artificially designed to enable inter‐species metabolic interactions, metabolic division of labor, and ecological interactions that can elicit phenotypes like colonization stability and environmental adaptation. This systematic review explores the processes used to construct SynComs, the assessment of the mechanisms of metabolic interaction

Effect of light quality on growth, protein content and fatty acid profile of Chaetoceros muelleri [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2021
In this study, some of the growth parameters and biochemical composition of Chaetoceros muelleri were investigated under blue, white, and red light. Different treatments of lights applied to Chaetoceros muelleri cultures (salinity 25 ppt, temperature 23 ±

Chloroplast Stress Signals Orchestrate Epidermis‐Specific Remodeling of Mitochondria and ER Under High Light

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High light exposure triggers an epidermis‐specific remodeling of mitochondria and ER in Arabidopsis, driven by chloroplast‐derived signals. Live‐cell imaging shows that HL rapidly suppresses mitochondrial motility, followed by fusion‐driven elongation and ER cisternal expansion.

Tailored Organogel Systems for Optimized Pesticide Delivery: Mechanistic Insights and Agricultural Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Utilizing molecular engineering for network design, three pesticide‐loaded organogels (PLOs) carriers exhibiting varying degrees of flexibility were prepared. The mechanical properties of these carriers, tunable via their network molecular structures, enhance their structural adaptability and retention stability at biological interfaces, thereby ...
