THE TOTAL SYNTHESIS OF CHLOROPHYLL [PDF]
The total synthesis of chlorophyll a starting from Knorr's pyrrole (1) is described with full experimental detail. Forty six stages are involved to reach the target molecule, chlorin e6 trimethyl ester (46), from which the preparation of chlorophyll a has already been described.

Controls on Chlorophyll Synthesis in Barley [PDF]
In 7- to 10-day-old leaves of etiolated barley (Hordeum vulgare), all of the enzymes that convert delta-aminolevulinic acid to chlorophyll are nonlimiting during the first 6 to 12 hours of illumination, even in the presence of inhibitors of protein synthesis.

Molecular Characterization of Mg-Chelatase CHLI Subunit in Pea (Pisum sativum L.)
As a rate-limiting enzyme for chlorophyll biosynthesis, Mg-chelatase is a promising target for improving photosynthetic efficiency. It consists of CHLH, CHLD, and CHLI subunits.

Abstract Chlorophyll (Chl) serves a number of essential functions, capturing and converting light energy as a component of photosystem supercomplexes. Chl degradation during leaf senescence is also required for adequate degeneration of chloroplasts and salvaging of nutrients from senescent leaves.

Phytochrome B Mediates the Regulation of Chlorophyll Biosynthesis through Transcriptional Regulation of ChlH and GUN4 in Rice Seedlings. [PDF]
Accurate regulation of chlorophyll synthesis is crucial for chloroplast formation during the greening process in angiosperms. In this study, we examined the role of phytochrome B (phyB) in the regulation of chlorophyll synthesis in rice seedlings (Oryza ...

Lipid biosynthesis in relation to chloroplast development in barley
During greening of detached leaves from dark-grown barley seedlings, the linolenic acid content of the lipids increases in the early stages of the formation of the chloroplast lamellar system.
