IT has been concluded from experiments with barley leaves that chloroplasts contain cytochromes ƒ and b 6 and no cytochrome c 1. We have been able to extend the observations to two other widely differing species and to record certain characteristics of the cytochromes present.

Dielectrophoresis of chloroplasts
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1971Abstract Dielectrophoresis is the migration of neutral particles in a nonuniform electric field (a.c. or d.c.) toward the region of highest field intensity. Dielectrophoresis should be distinguished from electrophoresis which is the migration of charged particles in electric fields.

Isolation of chloroplasts and chloroplast DNA
1994That chloroplasts are green and therefore recognizable by eye should have been an advantage in developing methods for their isolation, but historically it has been a disadvantage. It was relatively easy to grind up cells, subject the brei to differential centrifugation, and obtain a green pellet.

THE ELECTROPHOTOLUMINESCENCE OF CHLOROPLASTS
Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1976Abstract— Delayed light emission emanating from preilluminated chloroplasts can be perturbed with pulsed DC electric fields (200–4000 V cm‐1), The perturbation produces a strong stimulation of chlorophyll luminescence. During the field perturbation the stimulated emission rises to a maximum, typically within 100μs. and then decays.

Chloroplast DNA phylogeny, reticulate evolution, and biogeography of Paeonia (Paeoniaceae).
American-Eurasian journal of botany, 1997The coding region of the mat K gene and two intergenic spacers, psb A-trn H and trn L(UAA)-trn F(GAA), of cpDNA were sequenced to study phylogenetic relationships of 32 Paeonia species.

Iodination of chloroplasts. I. Properties of iodinated chloroplasts
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1976Spinach chloroplasts exposed to iodide can be washed free of the bulk of the iodide. In the presence of lactoperoxidase and H2O2, iodide can be introduced into chloroplasts in high amounts and in non diffusible forms. The resultant particles, which have been named iodochloroplasts, extrude their iodide upon stimulation by light. The form and the amount

In the last years, the availability of chloroplast genomes for plants and algae is increasing. These data can be useful both in the biotechnological area and in the evolutionary field, for the analysis of phylogenetic relationships among groups of organisms.

isolation of Wheat Chloroplasts and Chloroplast DNA
2003Chloroplasts in common with other plastids and mitochondria have their own nucleic material, in the form of multiple copies of a circular DNA molecule, normally of 120-160 kbp.

The discovery that chloroplasts have semi-autonomous genetic systems has led to many insights into the biogenesis of these organelles and their evolution from free-living photosynthetic bacteria. Recent developments of our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of translation in chloroplasts suggest selective pressures that have maintained the 100 ...

In this chapter we briefly review the developmental history and current research status of chloroplast transformation and introduce the merits of chloroplast transformation as compared with the nuclear genome transformation. Furthermore, according to the chloroplast transformation achieved in oilseed rape (Brassica napus), we introduce the preparation ...
