BPG4 regulates chloroplast development and homeostasis by suppressing GLK transcription factors and involving light and brassinosteroid signaling [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications
Chloroplast development adapts to the environment for performing suitable photosynthesis. Brassinosteroids (BRs), plant steroid hormones, have crucial effects on not only plant growth but also chloroplast development.

AtRsmD Is Required for Chloroplast Development and Chloroplast Function in Arabidopsis thaliana. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Plant Sci, 2022
AtRsmD was recently demonstrated to be a chloroplast 16S rRNA methyltransferase (MTase) for the m2G915 modification in Arabidopsis. Here, its function of AtRsmD for chloroplast development and photosynthesis was further analyzed. The AtRsmD gene is highly expressed in green photosynthetic tissues. AtRsmD is associated with the thylakoid in chloroplasts.

Kinetics of Membrane Transport during Chloroplast Development [PDF]

open access: greenPlant Physiology, 1978
In the course of plastid development there are changes in the permeability of the envelope membranes. An investigation of the kinetics of transport with largely uncontaminated and intact etioplast/etiochloroplast preparations from greening Avena sativa laminae demonstrates: (a) that etioplasts already possess specific translocators for the ...

Albino lethal 13, a chloroplast‐imported protein required for chloroplast development in rice [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Direct
Chloroplasts play a vital role in plant growth and development, which are the main sites of photosynthesis and the production of hormones and metabolites.

Autophagosome development and chloroplast segmentation occur synchronously for piecemeal degradation of chloroplasts

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Plants distribute many nutrients to chloroplasts during leaf development and maturation. When leaves senesce or experience sugar starvation, the autophagy machinery degrades chloroplast proteins to facilitate efficient nutrient reuse.

Salt Stress Inhibits Photosynthesis and Destroys Chloroplast Structure by Downregulating Chloroplast Development-Related Genes in Robinia pseudoacacia Seedlings. [PDF]

open access: yesPlants (Basel), 2023
Soil salinization is an important factor limiting food security and ecological stability. As a commonly used greening tree species, Robinia pseudoacacia often suffers from salt stress that can manifest as leaf yellowing, decreased photosynthesis ...

A cis -carotene derived apocarotenoid regulates etioplast and chloroplast development [PDF]

open access: goldbioRxiv, 2019
Carotenoids are core plastid components, yet a regulatory function during plastid biogenesis remains enigmatic. A unique carotenoid biosynthesis mutant, carotenoid chloroplast regulation 2 (ccr2), that has no prolamellar body (PLB) and normal ...
