Selective in vitro transcription of chloroplast genes
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 1983AbstractTranscription of Euglena gracilis chloroplast genes has been investigated by using in vitro transcription systems. A DNA‐dependent RNA polymerase responsible for the transcription of rRNA genes has been isolated as a nucleoprotein complex (transcriptionally active chromosome).

A protocol for expression of foreign genes in chloroplasts
Nature Protocols, 2008Several major costs associated with the production of biopharmaceuticals or vaccines in fermentation-based systems could be minimized by using plant chloroplasts as bioreactors, which facilitates rapid scale-up. Oral delivery of chloroplast-derived therapeutic proteins through plant cells eliminates expensive purification steps, low temperature storage,

1991
It is well documented that the photosynthetic multi-molecular complexes of the thylakoid membranes of higher plants and eukaryotic algae consist of subunits encoded by two distinct genetic systems localized in the nucleus and chloroplast. Some subunits of the photosynthetic complexes are encoded by chloroplast DNA and translated on chloroplast 70S ...

Gene Expression in Chloroplasts and Regulation of Chloroplast Differentiation
1973In most higher plants light is essential for the formation of fully-differentiated chloroplasts. However, the biochemical processes which are part of this differentiation, e.g. the synthesis of chloroplast RNA and protein, are also subject to complex interactions with other growth processes in the cell and are hence regulated, either in the light or in

TRANSLATION REGULATION OF INTRON-CONTAINING GENES IN CHLOROPLASTS
Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, 2006The paper provides a short description of the originally developed algorithm for searching of the conservative protein–RNA binding sites. The algorithm is applied to analyze chloroplast genes. The candidate protein–RNA binding sites were detected upstream of atpF, petB, clpP, psaA, psbA, and psbB genes in many chloroplasts of algae and plants.

Chloroplast Genes in Higher Plants
Australian Journal of Plant Physiology, 1991The role of chloroplast (cp) DNA in plastid and chloroplast function is discussed, particularly in relation to the interaction with nuclear DNA. The evolution of the chloroplast genome and the endosymbiont hypothesis are related to our results and those of others which show the occurrence of cpDNA sequences common to the nuclear and chloroplast genome.

Chloroplast gene organization in plants
Trends in Genetics, 1987Abstract Complete sequences are now available for the chloroplast genomes of two green plants. The information that can be gleaned from these sequences should help us to understand not only how chloroplasts function within present-day plants, but may also yield insights into the evolutionary relationships of photosynthetic organisms and into the gene ...
