Joint Inversion of Satellite‐Based Isoprene and Formaldehyde Observations to Constrain Emissions of Nonmethane Volatile Organic Compounds

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 13, 16 July 2025.
Abstract Reducing uncertainties in nonmethane volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions is critical for understanding air quality and its impacts on human health and climate. In this study, we introduce an iterative joint mass balance inversion framework that synthesizes multiconstituent satellite observations, with a particular focus on CrIS isoprene ...

Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation from Acetylene (C2H2): seed effect on SOA yields due to organic photochemistry in the aerosol aqueous phase [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2009
The lightest Non Methane HydroCarbon (NMHC), i.e., acetylene (C2H2) is found to form secondary organic aerosol (SOA). Contrary to current belief, the number of carbon atoms, n, for a NMHC to act as SOA precursor is lowered to n=2 here.

On the Fate of VOCs During the Spring 2020 COVID‐19 Lockdowns in Europe: A Study Based on the AirBase Data

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 8, 28 April 2025.
Abstract The rapid spread of the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus lead many European governments to issue stay‐at‐home orders for the sake of controlling its impacts on the health systems. The associated decrease in human activities and therefore emissions provided a unique opportunity for a real world laboratory for atmospheric scientists.

Protein Quality Assessment of the Deoiled Guamuchil (Pithecellobium dulce [Roxb.]) Seed Flour

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 2, Issue 1, Page 94-104, March 2025.
Seeds are the main by‐product of guamuchil fruit, which contain a significant proportion of proteins, where arginine, glutamic acid, proline, aspartic acid, and leucine are the dominant amino acids. According to the in vitro digestibility and the calculated protein efficiency ratio, deoiled guamuchil seed flour could be used as an ingredient in food ...

Measurement of glyoxal using an incoherent broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectrometer [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2008
We describe an instrument for simultaneous measurements of glyoxal (CHOCHO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) using cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy with a broadband light source.

Inherent calibration of a blue LED-CE-DOAS instrument to measure iodine oxide, glyoxal, methyl glyoxal, nitrogen dioxide, water vapour and aerosol extinction in open cavity mode [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2010
The combination of Cavity Enhanced Absorption Spectroscopy (CEAS) with broad-band light sources (e.g. Light-Emitting Diodes, LEDs) lends itself to the application of cavity enhanced Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (CE-DOAS) to perform ...
