Ultrasound for the Detection of Gallbladder Malignancy in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 45, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims In primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), the risk for gallbladder malignancy is increased. Surveillance imaging is used for early diagnosis. The study aims to assess the reliability of ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the detection of gallbladder polyps in people with PSC and to define a polyp size as a ...

The Role of Five‐Membered Aromatic Rings Containing N and O in Modulating Bile Acid Receptors: An Overview

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 16, August 16, 2025.
Several derivatives incorporating five‐membered aromatic rings are described in this review as bile acid receptor modulators, particularly targeting the farnesoid X receptor and the G protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of patents and literature that is useful to support researchers in the design of new ...

Effect of Mild to Moderate Hepatic Impairment on Valemetostat Pharmacokinetics: An Open‐Label, Phase I Study

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology in Drug Development, Volume 14, Issue 8, Page 631-641, August 2025.
Abstract Valemetostat tosylate (valemetostat) is a dual inhibitor of enhancer of zeste homolog (EZH) 2 and EZH1, approved in Japan for the treatment of relapsed/refractory peripheral T‐cell lymphoma and adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma. This Phase I, open‐label study evaluated the pharmacokinetics and safety of a single 50‐mg oral dose of valemetostat in

Intestinal Fut2 deficiency exacerbated alcohol‐related liver disease by disrupting nicotinamide metabolism

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2025.
Loss of intestinal epithelial fucosylation exacerbates alcohol‐related liver injuries. Intestinal epithelial deletion of Fut2 disrupts nicotinamide (NAM) metabolism due to the decline in bacterial nicotinamidase (PncA). Supplemented with pncA overexpressed E.coli to restore gut PncA levels can improve liver damage in alcohol‐induced intestinal ...

Current and Emerging Autoantibodies in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 8, August 2025.
Autoantibodies in ulcerative colitis target neutrophil and mucosal components, including NETs, goblet cells, and integrins‐offering insight into disease pathophysiology. Understanding these interactions may support biomarker development, enable earlier diagnosis, aid patient stratification, and drive future therapeutic innovation.

Dissecting the Genetic Correlations and Causal Effects of Gut Microbiota on Pan‐Cancer Phenotype: Driven by Common Dietary Preferences

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Our study indicates that common dietary preferences can influence pan‐cancer risk by driving changes in gut microbiota composition. We recommend that populations at risk of cancer consider appropriate probiotic or dietary interventions.

Empiric Antibiotic Use With Rescue Infliximab Does Not Improve Outcomes in Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Antibiotics are sometimes prescribed as concurrent therapy in the management of acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) with a rationale of treating any presumed concurrent infections. It is unclear if there are data indicating any benefit of this clinical practice.

Malignancies Presenting With ANCA Positivity: Two Case Reports and Diagnostic Considerations

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background ANCA‐associated vasculitides (AAV) are small‐vessel inflammatory disorders characterized by the presence of anti‐neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA), including those against proteinase 3 (PR3) and myeloperoxidase (MPO).
