ABSTRACT Background Parathyroidectomy is the treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism, yet postoperative hypocalcemia and hungry bone syndrome remain common. Vitamin D deficiency has been suggested as a modifiable risk factor, but evidence supporting preoperative supplementation is inconsistent.

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D₃) improves myelination and recovery after nerve injury. [PDF]
Previously, we demonstrated i) that ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) increases axon diameter and potentiates nerve regeneration in a rat model of transected peripheral nerve and ii) that cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) improves breathing and hyper-reflexia in a ...

Abstract BACKGROUND The present study aimed to develop and validate quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) models for predicting permeability related bioavailability indicators including apparent permeability (Papp), trans‐epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and efflux ratio (ER) based on molecular descriptors (n = 5003) of 83 ...

The role of Cholecalciferol in the Improvement of Insulin Resistance in Diabetic Mice Model
Insulin resistance is an important predictor of the incidence of diabetes mellitus. Vitamin D deficiency is one of the risk factors for insulin resistance, and there is a relationship between hypovitaminosis vitamin D with the prevalence of diabetes ...

The role of cholecalciferol deficiency in the development of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults
Background. Recently, a lot of information has appeared on the role of cholecalciferol deficiency in the development of the mechanisms of classical types of diabetes mellitus (DM) and its complications.

Metabolism of cholecalciferol in land snails [PDF]
1. Radioactively labelled cholecalciferol was injected into the land snails Levantina hiersolyma and Theba pisana. Three metabolites (C, D and E), more polar than cholecalciferol, were found. 2. Metabolite C was found to be identical with 25-hydroxycholecalciferol.

Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Intact Parathyroid Hormone Influence Muscle Outcomes in Children and Adolescents [PDF]
Increases in 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations are shown to improve strength in adults; however, data in pediatric populations are scant and equivocal. In this ancillary study of a larger-scale, multi-sited, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled ...

Pure Gaussian Apodisation Reduces Integral Crosstalk Sensitivity in Quantitative NMR
Exponential apodisation redistributes peak area away from its centre, which increases crosstalk with neighbouring peaks and reduces integral trueness when integrating between defined regions. A pure Gaussian apodisation limits wing growth: Crosstalk between peaks is not worsened, and trueness is conserved during integration.

Abstract Background Hypovitaminosis D is associated with adverse health outcomes, including increased mortality in patients with cancer. Although vitamin D insufficiency (23%–72%) and deficiency (20%–71%) are common among patients admitted to inpatient rehabilitation, their prevalence and predictors in cancer‐specific inpatient rehabilitation ...
