Common complications of cholelithiasis include gallbladder inflammation, cholangitis, and acute pancreatitis. On the other hand, rare complications include gallbladder carcinoma, gallstone ileus, Mirizzi syndrome and gallbladder perforation. Some patients with cholecystitis do not require hospitalization.
