Development of a Clinical Severity Score for Indian Sickle Cell Anaemia Patients

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell anaemia (SCA) is a monogenic disorder but shows variable disease severity. We evaluated the utility of paediatric severity scores (PSS) in Indian patients and developed two modified scores: Indian Severity Score 1 (ISS1) by adding four clinical parameters to PSS, and ISS2 by excluding four biochemical measures from ISS1.

Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Velocity Measurements in Children With Sickle Cell Disease in Kenya

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is the most common inherited haemoglobinopathy and poses a high public health burden in Sub‐Saharan Africa. Abcb4 Haploinsufficiency Sensitises Mice to a Diet‐Induced PSC‐Like Hepatobiliary Phenotype With Gallstone Formation

open access: yesLiver International Communications, Volume 7, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT ABCB4 translocates phospholipids (PL) into bile to buffer the toxicity of bile acids (BA) and free cholesterol (CHOL). While recessively inherited ABCB4 deficiency causes childhood Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis type 3, haploinsufficiency has been linked to adult‐onset hepatobiliary diseases.

ω‐3PUFAs Inhibit Gallbladder Cancer Through Enhancing STK31 Methylation

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
ABSTRACT Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is an aggressive malignancy with limited treatment options. ω‐3PUFAs have known anticancer activity, but their role in GBC remains unclear. The anti‐GBC effects of ω‐3PUFAs (DHA/EPA) were evaluated using in vitro assays and mouse xenograft models.
