Structure of the Mouse Cholesterol 7α-Hydroxylase Gene

open access: yesGenomics, 1994
Three overlapping cholesterol 7 alpha-hydroxylasecDNAs were cloned from total mouse liver RNA by a combination of the polymerase chain reaction and mouse liver cDNA library screening. One of the cDNA clones was used to screen a mouse genomic library; three genomic clones were isolated and one of them was fully characterized.

Alleles of the Cholesterol 7 Alpha-Hydroxylase (CYP7) Gene in Pigs Selected for High or Low Plasma Total Cholesterol

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1998
Crossbred pigs were selected for high (HTC) or low (LTC) plasma total cholesterol (TC). Pigs from the seventh (n = 51) and eighth (n = 92) generations were used to determine restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP). Using TaqI restriction enzyme digestion, the frequencies of two alleles (2.8- or 5.0-kb fragments) of the cholesterol 7 alpha ...

The Acute Responses of Different-sized Coronary Arteries to Testosterone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Coronary arteries supply blood to the myocardium. The blood flow within the coronary arteries is altered by various compounds produced within the body. Sex hormones such as testosterone are known to cause the relaxation of large coronary arteries.

Amenorrhea Due to Defects in Steroid Biosynthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Amenorrhea as the first manifestation of a steroid biosynthetic defect is rather unusual. The common forms of congenital adrenal hyperplasia are classic examples of steroid biosynthetic defects.

Perturbations in Lineage Specification of Granulosa and Theca Cells May Alter Corpus Luteum Formation and Function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Anovulation is a major cause of infertility, and it is the major leading reproductive disorder in mammalian females. Without ovulation, an oocyte is not released from the ovarian follicle to be fertilized and a corpus luteum is not formed.

Associations of the CYP7A1 Gene Polymorphisms Located in the Promoter and Enhancer Regions with the Risk of Acute Coronary Syndrome, Plasma Cholesterol, and the Incidence of Diabetes

open access: yesBiomedicines
Cholesterol-7-alpha hydroxylase (CYP7A1) is a key enzyme in the synthesis of bile salts, and its activity can contribute to determining cholesterol levels and, consequently, the risk of developing coronary atherosclerotic disease.

Lipid peroxidation biomarkers for evaluating oxidative stress in equine neuroaxonal dystrophy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BackgroundEquine neuroaxonal dystrophy/equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy (eNAD/EDM) is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting genetically predisposed foals maintained on an α-tocopherol (α-TOH) deficient diet.

The effect of exercise training on upregulation of molecular markers of bile acid metabolism in the liver of ovariectomized rats fed a cholesterol-rich diet

open access: yesARYA Atherosclerosis, 2017
BACKGROUND: Small heterodimer partner (SHP) is an important transcriptional factor involved in the regulation of glucose, lipid, and bile acid metabolism in the liver.
