In Vitro Validation of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) as an Effective Countermeasure Against Inflammatory‐Mediated Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration (IDD) is the main contributor to chronic low back pain (LBP), the leading cause of disability worldwide, with a significant impact on the quality of life and health of common people. The etiology of IDD is still unclear, but it has been largely demonstrated the crucial role of inflammation and ...

Research Progress of Osteoarthritis Treatment by Low Intensity Pulsed Ultrasound

open access: yesSmart Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2025.
As a non‐invasive therapeutic modality, LIPUS demonstrates potential in mitigating OA progression. This review synthesizes current evidence of OA pathophysiology, summarizes the mechanism of LIPUS treatment of OA, and proposes synergistic strategies to advanced OA treatment.

Basic Emollients for Xerosis Cutis in Atopic Dermatitis: A Review of Clinical Studies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, Volume 64, Issue S1, Page 13-28, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Xerosis cutis (dry skin) is a common and burdensome symptom of atopic dermatitis (AD). Topical emollients restore skin hydration and barrier function through the physicochemical properties of their nonactive constituents (e.g., glycerol, urea, lactic acid, liquid paraffin, petrolatum) and represent the mainstay of basic therapy for xerosis ...

Meprin β Modulates Brevican Proteolysis Impairing Neural Plasticity and Memory Formation

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 10, 31 May 2025.
Meprin β was studied using mice overexpressing it in cortical and hippocampal neurons. N‐terminomics identified brevican, a key extracellular matrix protein associated with synaptic plasticity and memory, as a potential substrate of meprin β. Further analyses revealed that brevican levels are dependent on the catalytic activity of meprin β.

Recent Advances in Enzymes and Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of Tetrasaccharide Linkage Region of Proteoglycans

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 10, May 27, 2025.
The tetrasaccharide linkage region of proteoglycans is synthesized through a series of well‐controlled enzymatic reactions in nature. The expression, activity, and substrate profile of these biosynthetic enzymes and the latest development of chemoenzymatic synthesis of linkage region‐bearing glycopeptides are summarized in this review.
