Localized ultraviolet laser microbeam irradiation of early Drosophila embryos: Fate maps based on location and frequency of adult defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Drosophila embryos were locally irradiated with a 257-nm laser microbeam during blastoderm and germ band stages. Depending on stage and beam diameter (10–30 μm), from 0 to 45 nuclei were exposed to the uv radiation.

On–Off Switchable Micromotors for Use in Steerable Microvehicles

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Electrically controllable micromotors and microvehicles are developed by tuning the diffusion of the fuel. Self‐propelled micromotors using bubble propulsion show great promise for miniaturized devices with multiuse purposes such as cargo delivery and sensing. However, there is currently no method to electrically switch the micromotors on or off. Here,

The morphological characteristic of chorion villi in early terms of pregnancy in the presence of urogenital infection

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2011
The morphological structure of the chorion villi in I trimester of pregnancy is studied at ureaplasmas and mycoplasmas infections. Established signs of the accelerated maturing of the villi, strengthened proliferation of trophoblast, increased of stromal

Cationic Peptoids for Systemic In Vivo Cartilage‐Targeting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Systemically‐dosed Cy5‐labeled cationic peptoid probe (NlysO)7 (yellow) binds to the cartilage's glycosaminoglycan content in vivo across the entire body of a neonatal mouse imaged by light sheet fluorescence microscopy, revealing fluorescence uptake in generic cartilage as well as the developing and ossifying bones.

Evaluation of the effect of different methods of curacy on women with adenomyosis in the first half of pregnancy on the development of early gestative complications

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport, 2019
Pregnancy in women with adenomyosis has an increased risk of multiple obstetric complications, especially early pregnancy losses. The purpose of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the impact of different methods of curation of pregnant ...

Deficiency of SCAMP5 Triggers Pancreatic β‐Cell Secretory Dysfunction and Apoptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that hyperglycemia in diabetes activates ChREBP, which epigenetically represses SCAMP5 expression in pancreatic β‐cells. This SCAMP5 deficiency impairs insulin secretion by downregulating the calcium channel CaV1.2. Furthermore, reduced SCAMP5 triggers β‐cell apoptosis by stabilizing VDAC1 and enhancing its interaction with Bax,

In vivo Assessment of Supra-Cervical Fetal Membrane by MRI 3D CISS: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
In approximately 8% of term births and 33% of pre-term births, the fetal membrane (FM) ruptures before delivery. In vitro studies of FMs after delivery have suggested the series of events leading to rupture, but no in vivo studies have confirmed this ...

The Functions of the Multiproduct and Rapidly Evolving \u3cem\u3edec-1\u3c/em\u3e Eggshell Gene Are Conserved Between Evolutionarily Distant Species of Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The Drosophila dec-1 gene encodes multiple proteins that are required for female fertility and proper eggshell morphogenesis. Genetic and immunolocalization data suggest that the different DEC-1 proteins are functionally distinct.

BHLHE40 Cooperates with GATA2/3 to Control Human Syncytiotrophoblast Lineage Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BHLHE40 interacts directly with GATA2 and GATA3 and co‐occupies genomic loci critical for STB differentiation and function. BHLHE40 also affects GATA2/3 binding at enhancer and promoter regions. Moreover, BHLHE40 is potentially involved in genome‐wide remodeling of H3K4me3 and H3K27ac chromatin landscapes through GATA2/3 recruitment, activating ...
