Age, embryo donor status, and insemination with chilled semen all predispose to persistent breeding‐induced endometritis in warmblood mares

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Persistent breeding‐induced endometritis (PBIE) is a common reason for mares failing to establish pregnancy. Objective To examine the hypothesis that advancing mare age and embryo donor status predispose to PBIE and compromise fertility.

Nested Selves: Self‐Organization and Shared Markov Blankets in Prenatal Development in Humans

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract The immune system is a central component of organismic function in humans. This paper addresses self‐organization of biological systems in relation to—and nested within—other biological systems in pregnancy. Pregnancy constitutes a fundamental state for human embodiment and a key step in the evolution and conservation of our species. While not

Luteal phase stimulation versus follicular phase stimulation in poor ovarian responders: A systematic review and a meta‐analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Poor ovarian response (POR) complicates a substantial proportion of in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles, frequently causing cycle cancellation and suboptimal reproductive outcomes. Conventional follicular‐phase ovarian stimulation (FPOS) protocols often yield limited results, prompting the evaluation of alternative strategies such ...

Timing of conception after methotrexate and subsequent pregnancy outcomes: A retrospective cohort study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Methotrexate is widely used to treat ectopic pregnancy (EP). Concerns about its teratogenicity have led to uncertainty regarding the optimal interval before attempting conception. Guidelines recommend a 3‐month washout period, while the manufacturer advises 6 months. Evidence on the safety of early conception is limited.

Membranous dysmenorrhea and decidual casts: A scoping review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Membranous dysmenorrhea, characterized by the expulsion of intact endometrial tissue rather than gradual dissolution during menstruation, occasionally presents as a decidual cast—a complete triangular mold of the uterine cavity. This poorly understood condition is likely underdiagnosed.

The utility of serum markers in the conservative management of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) by leaving the placenta in situ in women with high‐grade PAS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To investigate the association between serum markers and successful conservative management of patients with placenta accreta spectrum (PAS). Methods This was a retrospective case–control study where patients with high‐grade PAS between 2011 and 2025 undergoing conservative leaving the placenta in situ were included.

Analytical and Workflow Performance of a High‐Throughput Chemiluminescent Immunoassay System in a Clinical Laboratory

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Analytical and operational performance evaluation of the DxI 9000 Access Immunoassay Analyzer in a clinical laboratory in Taiwan. ABSTRACT Background Increasing test volumes and shorter turnaround time (TAT) requirements, particularly in acute‐care settings, challenge clinical laboratories to maintain accurate immunoassay testing.

Complaints Involving Sonographers: What Three Decades of Cases From A Public New Zealand Database Can Teach Us

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Health consumer complaints to the New Zealand Health and Disability Commissioner involving sonographers are rare, totalling 15 in the last 31 years and averaging 1.5 cases per year over the last decade. A large proportion of complaints involve an undetected finding, obstetric examination and private setting.

The Oocyte/Antral Follicle Count Index: Does Maximizing Oocyte Yield Translate into Better Assisted Reproductive Technology Outcomes?

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives Whether aspiration of more oocytes than the antral follicle count (AFC) is beneficial for the current and future products of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) cycles. Methods Data of the first oocyte aspiration for intracytoplasmic sperm injection performed between 2018 and 2022 in attempt to conceive (ICSI, n = 399) or for planned ...
