Identification of trophoblast in chorionic villi biopsy samples
Human Genetics, 1986We have investigated a test for rapid discrimination between foetal and maternal origin of chorionic villi biopsy samples. A monoclonal antibody named H315 reacting against a specific antigen present on the surface of foetal trophoblastic cells, plus a double-colour staining technique (FITC + PI), have been used for the identification of foetal cells ...

Chorionic villi sampling: Laboratory experience with 4,000 consecutive cases
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1994AbstractExperience with 4,000 consecutive CVS cases shows that 1) the combination of both the direct and culture methods greatly reduces false diagnoses and maternal cell contamination; 2) the time interval between the sampling procedure and processing of villus specimens influences the quality of direct preparations; 3) maternal cell contamination ...

Prenatal diagnosis of genetic disease by chorionic villi sampling
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics, 1986Chorionic villi sampling at week 9–11 of gestation is increasingly applied as a new method in prenatal diagnosis of genetic disorders. Cytogenetical, biochemical or recombinant DNA methods have been used successfully in more than 6000 pregnancies at risk.

Fetal mortality at the time of chorionic villi sampling
Human Genetics, 1984To estimate the background fetal loss rates among women who might be candidates for chorionic villi sampling (CVS) for prenatal diagnosis, we examined the frequency of spontaneous abortion and of non-viable fetuses in two groups of women thought to be pregnant at 8-12 weeks' gestation.

First trimester chorionic villi sampling and direct chromosome preparations
Clinical Genetics, 1986Chorionic villi sampling was performed on 52 patients prior to elective termination of their pregnancies. Villi were obtained in 42, and direct chromosome preparations were successful in 41 of them. The use of a mixture of 0.075 M potassium chloride and 1% sodium citrate in the ratio of 2:1 for hypotonic treatment and 40% acetic acid for cell dispersal

[Experience with chorionic villi sampling].
Orvosi hetilap, 1991The authors discuss their experiences from 412 chorion villus samplings, (CVS), which they have done under four and a half years since 1985. They used eight types of instruments in performing their examinations and each instrument proved to be satisfactory in the gaining of chorion villus samples, suitable for further tests.

The role of transvaginal sonography in chorionic villi sampling
Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 1990AbstractVaginosonography has the potential of improving not only accurate diagnosis preceeding chorionic villus sampling but also the sampling procedure itself. The vaginosonographic diagnostic landmarks of early pregnancies are the contact area between the amnion and the chorion, the insertion of the umbilical cord, the yolk sac and the decidua ...

Investigations of chorionic villi after chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
Human Genetics, 1989This report documents the first 262 cases of chorionic villus sampling (CVS) performed in parallel with cytogenetic and morphological investigations. Histomorphological examination of these CVS specimens gave suitable results in about 96% (251 cases). Of the latter, 201 samples (80.1%) exhibited villi and 176 (70.1%), maternal tissue.

[Chorionic villi sampling. Amniocentesis. Cordocentesis].
Revue francaise de gynecologie et d'obstetrique, 1990For early antenatal diagnosis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS) represents a valid alternative to early amniocentesis. It gives rapid results with minimal increase in risks (miscarriage about 1.5 p. cent). The indications of CVS are therefore likely to broaden. For late antenatal diagnosis, linked to an echographic or clinical anomaly, sampling of fetal
