Despite their common occurrence and benign character, choroidal naevi show a number of interesting features. Hyper- and hypopigmentation, drusen, pigment-epithelial detachment, retinal deposits and capillary circulatory disturbances are described. Colour and red-light photography appear to be the most appropriate techniques for documentation.

Choroidal Neovascularization Associated with Choroidal Nevi
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1978We observed choroidal neovascularization with associated macular detachment in three cases of benign choroidal nevi. Successful obliteration of the neovascular membranes was performed with argon laser photocoagulation with maintenance of good central visual acuity.

Choroidal Neovascularization Associated With Choroidal Nevi
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1993We undertook a retrospective study of all choroidal nevi with overlying neovascularization seen at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Fla, to determine long-term effects on vision and whether the presence of neovascularization represented increased malignant potential of the lesion.A computer search of patients with a coded diagnosis of both a ...

SOLITARY IDIOPATHIC CHOROIDITIS WITH CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULARIZATION
RETINAL Cases & Brief Reports, 2009To report a case of solitary idiopathic choroiditis associated with choroidal neovascularization.Case report of a 36-year-old healthy man who was referred for floaters in the left eye of 3 weeks' duration.Fundus examination of the left eye revealed a yellow-white subretinal lesion superior to the fovea.

Choroidal melanoma metastatic to the contralateral choroid
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2001To report metastasis of choroidal melanoma to the contralateral choroid.Interventional case report. In a 49-year-old Caucasian female, a primary choroidal melanoma, left eye, was diagnosed and treated with Ruthenium-106 plaque radiotherapy. The choroidal melanoma showed excellent regression with flattening of the mass and adjacent chorioretinal atrophy.

The macular arterial nutrition is represented by the short posterior choroidal arteries and by the recurrent posterior arteries. The multiplicity of sources and the frequency of anastomoses make the possibility of a choroidal segmentation at the posterior pole difficult to believe. The Central choriocapillary does not have any specific character.

Two patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome presented with headaches and fevers. A diagnosis of cryptococcal meningitis was made by lumbar puncture and elevated cryptococcal antigens. Complaints of decreased vision in both patients led to the diagnosis of optic disc edema and cryptococcal choroiditis with yellow-white choroidal infiltrates ...

Based on previous work, this paper describes the anatomical and functional characteristics of the choroidal vasculature, namely the choriocapillaris, the arterial and arteriovenous anastomosis, the segmental distribution of the short posterior ciliary arteries, and the choroidal veins.

Osteoma of the choroid is described on the basis of the findings in 2 patients. To differentiate this tumour from a melanoma, haemangioma or metastatic growth, an X-ray photograph and/or CT-scan is essential.

Prior studies have not conclusively established a relationship between the choroid and glaucoma. The development of an enhanced imaging technique for spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) has allowed for measurements of choroidal thickness that are more accurate than previously possible.
