The clinical and histopathologic findings in a hemorrhagic lesion involving the right macula of a 77-year-old man are presented. Clinical and fluorescein angiographic evaluation of the lesion led to a diagnosis of subretinal neovascular membrane secondary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Small Melanomas of the Choroid
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1978We reviewed 38 cases of small choroidal melanomas on file in the Eye Pathology Laboratory of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami. Clinical and histopathological features of these cases were noted, and clinical follow-up information was obtained for 36 (95%) of the patients.

The Management of Choroidal Melanoma
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984There are many unanswered questions regarding the correct treatment of malignant melanoma of the choroid. The complexity of cancer is well recognized. Some feel chimera (an animalistic monster) would be a more appropriate term. But the problem for ophthalmology may lie in the Ptolemaic view that has prevented us from seeing the disease beyond the eye.

In February, 2010, a 43-year-old woman presented to our clinic complaining of visual fl oaters in her left eye for the previous 2 months. She had a history of systemic hypertension, but was currently not on medication. Our patient was otherwise healthy. On examination, her visual acuity was 20/20 in each eye.

The results of ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and immunohistochemical studies are presented for a 38-year-old woman who developed an amelanotic tumor in the posterior choroid. B-scan ultrasonography disclosed intratumoral cavitations.

Choroidal melanoma metastatic to the contralateral choroid
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2001To report metastasis of choroidal melanoma to the contralateral choroid.Interventional case report. In a 49-year-old Caucasian female, a primary choroidal melanoma, left eye, was diagnosed and treated with Ruthenium-106 plaque radiotherapy. The choroidal melanoma showed excellent regression with flattening of the mass and adjacent chorioretinal atrophy.
