Choroidal Leiomyoma of Vascular Origin

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1976
A 57-year-old man had a clinically suspected malignant melanoma in his left eye. On microscopic study, the enucleated eye harbored an unusual choroidal tumor that had extended extraocularly. This tumor had been variously interpreted microscopically as an angiosarcoma, an atpical angioma, a glioma, or a neurilemoma.

Evaluation of choroidal thickness and choroidal vascularity index during pregnancy

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
To assess the choroidal structural characteristics in the first and third trimesters in pregnant women using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography and binarization method.Prospective study.Twenty-five eyes of 25 pregnant women in the first trimester (group 1) and 25 eyes of 25 pregnant women in the third trimester (group 2) were examined.

Choroidal Vascular Patterns in Hypertension

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1964
In a previous paper 1 we presented observations on senile vascular patterns of the choroid and their relationship to drusen. The choroidal vessels were prepared in a manner which made possible the simultaneous study, on the flat, of the vessel patterns, of the cells of the vessel wall and of Bruch's membrane.

Choroidal vascular changes after transpupillary thermotherapy for choroidal melanoma

Ophthalmology, 2003
To evaluate choroidal vascular alterations after transpupillary thermotherapy used as the sole treatment for choroidal melanoma.Prospective noncomparative interventional case series.Forty-five eyes of 45 patients affected by malignant choroidal melanoma treated with transpupillary thermotherapy alone with more than 1 year of follow-up.Transpupillary ...

Senile Choroidal Vascular Patterns and Drusen

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1963
The laminar structure of the eye has provided a unique opportunity to study such structures as retinal vessels, corneal and trabecular endothelium, lens epithelium, and retinal pigment epithelium in flat mounts. Depigmented choroid has also been studied in whole mounts, but to our knowledge, no study has been made heretofore of flat mounts which permit

Inflammatory Choroidal Vascular Membranes

2020
Inflammatory choroidal neovascularization (CNV) is a sight threatening complication of noninfectious and infectious uveitic disorders. It is the third most common cause of CNV after age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and pathologic myopia. In this review, we provide an overview of inflammatory CNV including a review of the pathogenesis, the ...

Physiology of the choroidal vascular bed

International Ophthalmology, 1983
The choroidal vascular bed has many interesting features such as relatively wide but flat capillaries, fenestrated capillary walls and an enormous blood flow. The high flow rate results in a high oxygen tension in the tissue and is also of importance in the temperature control of the eye.

[Choroidal vascular occlusion].

Der Ophthalmologe : Zeitschrift der Deutschen Ophthalmologischen Gesellschaft, 2011
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, relapsing and remitting autoimmune disease of unknown etiology. As in other rheumatic diseases sicca syndrome is often present. Additionally retinal vascular pathologies such as cotton wool spots and intraretinal hemorrhages are present in 7-8% of patients with SLE.

Vascular modifications within a choroidal osteoma

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1993
We report a case of choroidal osteoma followed-up for 7 years. During this lapse of time the choroidal osteoma showed slight enlargement, development of subretinal hemorrhage and modifications of intratumoral vascularization. Some large intratumoral vessels visible at first examination disappeared at follow-up, while other vessels not observed before ...
