Poynting vector and wave vector directions of equatorial chorus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2016
AbstractWe present new results on wave vectors and Poynting vectors of chorus rising and falling tones on the basis of 6 years of THEMIS (Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) observations. The majority of wave vectors is closely aligned with the direction of the ambient magnetic field (B0).

Fiscal grievance politics: wealth taxation and master‐race democracy in post‐coup Bolivia Politique des griefs fiscaux : impôt sur la fortune et démocratie de la race maîtresse en Bolivie post‐coup d’État

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
This article analyses a new wealth tax (the IGF) in Bolivia against the backdrop of the 2019 ousting of former president Evo Morales. In doing so, it engages calls for ‘a return to politics’ in anthropology by proposing the notion of a ‘fiscal grievance politics’ as animating elite opposition to the tax in lowland Santa Cruz department. I show that the

The Principal Role of Chorus Ducting for Night‐Side Relativistic Electron Precipitation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Night‐side chorus waves are often observed during plasma sheet injections, typically confined around the equator and thus potentially responsible for precipitation of ≲100 keV electrons.

Acceleration of radiation belts electrons by oblique chorus waves [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 2012
The redistribution of energy during the recovery phase of geomagnetic storms related to the acceleration of electrons in the Earth's outer radiation belt by cyclotron‐resonant chorus waves is an important and challenging topic of magnetospheric plasma physics.

Strangers on the ladder of the party‐state: Women in teaching in Nationalist Taiwan, 1940s–1980s

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
Abstract As the ruling party of a party‐state in China and Taiwan, the Nationalist Party (Kuomintang/Guomindang) built a close relationship with the teaching profession. Many teachers joined the party and there was a well‐trodden pathway from teaching into local representative politics and civil service.

The Feasibility of a Chair Yoga Intervention to Improve Mental Health and Wellbeing for Adults With Learning Disabilities: A Pilot Study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Learning Disabilities, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Yoga has been shown to have physical benefits for people with learning disabilities. It is unclear whether the mental health and wellbeing benefits of yoga found in other populations are apparent in people with learning disabilities. This study was a pilot. Method The study comprised three stages.

Unified View of Nonlinear Wave Structures Associated with Whistler-Mode Chorus

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2019
A range of nonlinear wave structures, including Langmuir waves, unipolar electric fields and bipolar electric fields, are often observed in association with whistler-mode chorus waves in the near-Earth space. We demonstrate that the three seemingly different nonlinear wave structures originate from the same nonlinear electron trapping process by ...
