A novel bidding method for combined heat and power units in district heating systems

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a bidding method for the participation of combined heat and power (CHP) units in the day-ahead electricity market. More specifically, we consider a district heating system where heat can be produced by CHP units or heat-only units, e.g., gas ...

KIT D816V Positive Acute Mast Cell Leukemia Associated with Normal Karyotype Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesCase Reports in Hematology, 2018
Introduction. Mast cell (MC) leukemia (MCL) is extremely rare. We present a case of MCL diagnosed concomitantly with acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). Case Report. A 41-year-old woman presented with asthenia, anorexia, fever, epigastralgia, and diarrhea.

Previous Renal Replacement Therapy Time at Start of Peritoneal Dialysis Independently Impact on Peritoneal Membrane Ultrafiltration Failure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nephrology, 2011
Background. Peritoneal membrane changes are induced by uraemia per se. We hypothesise that previous renal replacement therapy (RRT) time and residual renal function (RRF) at start of peritoneal dialysis impact on ultrafiltration failure (UFF).

Impacts of plug-in hybrid vehicles and combined heat and power technologies on electric and gas distribution network losses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Distribution network operators (DNOs) require strategies that can offset the tradeoffs new embedded technologies have on their assets. This paper employs modelling to show that through control device manipulation, gas and electric (G&E) network operators

Functional and Structural Evidence of Neurofluid Circuit Aberrations in Huntington Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Disrupted neurofluid regulation may contribute to neurodegeneration in Huntington disease (HD). Because neurofluid pathways influence waste clearance, inflammation, and the distribution of central nervous system (CNS)–delivered therapeutics, understanding their dysfunction is increasingly important as targeted treatments emerge.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Decision Making Control Algorithm for Cogeneration Plants in Operating with the Heat Accumulator Deep Analysis Model

open access: yesComplex Systems Informatics and Modeling Quarterly, 2022
Accurate production planning in both the short and long term is very important in cogeneration plants. Especially if the cogeneration unit operates under free electricity market conditions, which complicates the decision-making process as an additional ...

Magnetothermal‐Triggered Response and Self‐Healing of Recyclable and Reprocessable Nanocomposites for Actuation Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Developing recyclable materials for magnetic robotics that combine rapid response and self‐healing properties is challenging. Hence, this study focuses on the integration of magnetothermal nanoparticles into a dynamic sorbitol‐based vitrimer, a recyclable composite capable of remote actuation and self‐healing by magnetic heating.
