Selecting Between Hydrogen and Methanol for Fuel Cell‐Organic Rankine Cycle Hybrid Power Systems: A Comparative 4E Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A 4E comparison of PEMFC‐ORC and DMFC‐ORC systems shows that PEMFC‐ORC achieves 21% higher energy efficiency, while DMFC‐ORC obtains 31% higher exergy efficiency and 57% lower levelized cost of electricity. However, DMFC‐ORC emits nearly twice the annual carbon dioxide equivalent of PEMFC‐ORC.

Beneficial CHP – Is that a Thing? Considering CHP in the Context of Beneficial Electrification

open access: yes, 2022
For decades, combined heat and power (CHP) has been promoted and embraced as a cost-effective technology for meeting on-site thermal and electric needs more efficiently and with fewer emissions than separate procurement of those resources. But climate change concerns are leading to a reevaluation of CHP’s benefits.

METTL14 Ameliorates Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Autophagy in Lens Epithelial Cells of Diabetic Cataracts via m6A Modification of RPL3

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetic cataracts are a leading cause of blindness, with lens epithelial cells (LECs) exhibiting mitochondrial dysfunction and autophagy inhibition under high glucose (HG) conditions. Methyltransferase‐like 14 (METTL14), an RNA methyltransferase, regulates N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) RNA modification; however, its role in modulating ...
