Interleukin-1 in adrenal chromaffin cells
Neuroscience, 1989Interleukin-1, first identified as a macrophage factor of importance in infections and inflammation, is a protein with properties of an endogenous pyrogene and lymphocyte activating factor. Occurrence of interleukin-1-like immunoreactivity was demonstrated in the noradrenergic chromaffin cells of the rat and mouse adrenal gland by means of two antisera

The urethral mucosa of the rat, rabbit and guinea-pig was examined with both fluorescence and electron microscopy. Employing the former technique, numerous brightly fluorescing flask-shaped cells were observed amongst the basal cells of the urethral epithelium in all three species.

CHROMAFFIN CELLS, MAST CELLS AND MELANIN
Journal of Endocrinology, 1961SUMMARY Polymorphic cells whose granules give a positive chromaffin reaction have been identified in the liver capsule and gut of the ox, cow and sheep. These cells give a positive argentaffin and Schmorl's reaction in dichromate-fixed material, and fail to couple with alkaline diazonium compounds.

Molecular Biology of the Chromaffin Cell
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2002Abstract:A large number of molecular biology studies have been performed on chromaffin cells, and many genes involved in catecholamine synthesis, storage, and release have been cloned and their function determined. Catecholamine synthesis takes place in different cellular compartments, and enzymes involved in this process are subject to a fine ...

The Chromaffin and Chromaffin-like Cells in the Autonomic Nervous System
1979Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the chromaffin and chromaffin-like (CCL) cells in the autonomic nervous system. It has been known for a long time that there were clusters of chromaffin cells scattered along and within the nerves and ganglia of the autonomic nervous system when new interest in these cells was aroused about 1960 because they ...
