Chromostereopsis and Chromatic Dispersion

Optometry and Vision Science, 1986
Slits placed before the eyes measured the chromatic dispersion of the eyes as a function of the separation of the slits. Prisms in front of the eyes determined the separation of the visual and null axes. The product of these separate measurements predicted the apparent depth expected with full-pupil stereoscopy.

Chromatically dispersed interferometry with wavelet analysis

Optics Letters, 2006
A new white-light interferometry point sensor utilizing a chromatically dispersed depth detection field is addressed. Monitoring the interference in the optical frequency domain allows for microscopic height detection without the necessity of a mechanical axial scan.

Chromatic dispersion in nonlinear optical waveguides

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1989
AbstractCompound chromatic dispersion has been calculated for waveguides with nonlinear substrate made of heavy metal oxide and fluoride glasses. Negative dispersion was found in a single‐mode regime for those guides. Crossover value of wavelength is waveguide power‐dependent.

Transmission gratings for chromatic dispersion compensation

Optics Letters, 1996
It is theoretically demonstrated that a succession of four unchirped gratings, ~20 mm long, induces a negative chromatic dispersion in transmission of -100 ps/nm over a 0.2-nm bandwidth, with a power loss below 1 dB. The stability of the proposed arrangement is also considered and found to be within today's technology.

The chromatic dispersion module with large chromatic focal shift

2012 7th IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems (NEMS), 2012
This paper integrates micro-lenses to develop a miniature chromatic dispersion module with 1.89 mm (400–800 nm) chromatic focal shift for the application of the profile and roughness detection of roll to roll process. The dimension of the designed and fabricated lens module is about 6 mm (long) × 2 mm (diameter) which is far smaller to the commercial ...

Frequency Domain Chromatic Dispersion Estimation

National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2010
The low complexity, robust, and precise algorithm solely employs a simplified autocorrelation function of the signal spectrum for blind chromatic dispersion estimation to adapt frequency domain compensation functions in digital coherent receivers.

Improved chromatic dispersion monitoring technique

Optics Communications, 2006
We consider and investigate an improved chromatic dispersion monitoring method using two RF tones with an inserted dispersion offset. This improved technique can be used to monitor both the positive and negative accumulated dispersion caused by optical fibers as well as other optical components in optical networks.

Evaluation of longitudinal chromatic dispersion

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1990
The relationship between changes in the refractive index along a fiber and chromatic dispersion is investigated theoretically. The variance of the chromatic dispersion along a fiber is approximately proportional to that of longitudinal structural fiber parameters. To control the dispersion to within +or-1 ps/km/nm, theoretical results indicate that the

Employing dispersion-flattened fiber for chromatic dispersion measurement

Optical Engineering, 2006
A new technique for measuring the accumulated chromatic dispersion (CD) in single-mode fiber (SMF) is presented. The technique uses the ratio of the beating power between pump and probe signals and the beating power between probe signal and the four-wave mixing (FWM) conjugated signal.
